Looks like the rebates are from Netgear (in form of Visa Prepaid card), not Buy.com (for those who dislike Buy.com, personally I never had any issues with them including rebates and returns)

This sounds like a great deal. I like the RND2210, includes two 1TB drives and a NAS for $300? Hard to beat.
Looks like Newegg has the same rebate for $6 less. It will come down to who has the best FW or Bing discounts.

The rebate doesn't seem to list specific vendors. Amazon would be nice to save tax in CA.

California is broke, so NO TAX Savings in California with any out of state purchases.

Our Corp. just received a Notice to pay up a USE Tax on all purchased made in last 3 years + penalties + interest.

Do these come with the actual hard drives?

Some do. How can you beat $300 for 2 1TB drives w/ a full featured NAS?

Anyone know where i can find information to compare this one against the Intel ss4200e? SmallNetBuilder isn't showing any AVG 1000mb read performance

I have both. The Intel is a better deal using a Celeron 1.6ghz cpu upgradable to a dual core, memory is upgradable and I can run 8tb using WS 2003.

If how your going to judge them is maximum throughput...geez I don't know. But they are totally different. The ReadyNas is about 1/5th the size of the Intel. Holds 2 drives not 4, is probably the best supported home nas on the planet in terms of user groups and compatible apps. If you have straightforward needs (Including the only nas that is consistantly updated for Squeezeboxes) its a great choice.

However, the SS4200 is a lot more flexible in terms of what you can do with it. As nsdp pointed out it starts with more horsepower, and you can upgrade to lots more. It is also quieter than the Readynas (I had to mod mine with a larger fan). If you decide to install WHS on the ss4200e then there are very few limitations on what it can do.

ANybody know if Netgear is shipping the Duo with the Seagate "ES/EN" Enterprise drives, like they do in the 4-drive models?

If so, this might be worth buying just for the drives, and put a couple of cheap drives in the Duo (running mirrored, of course.)
