What was not direct? My link was straight to Amazon.
Well, looks like the mods have locked my OP for whatever reason...anyway, this is the original Mini 10...not the 10V, and not the newer mini that was recently posted for $244 (the Mini 1012). The good thing about this model is that it DOES HAVE HDMI...and has the 6 cell battery, and also a TV tuner. I just ordered one, so I'm not sure how well the TV tuner works, but the battery alone is $149 on Dell's website. I'm posting this from my Mini 10 (same computer but without TV tuner and a 3 cell battery) and think this is a great price for the upgrade.
OK, where in the write up does it say HDMI. I must be blind because I don't see it. I see a VGA. I also see that one 1 pic supplied by Amazon. Another pic by Amazon shows what could be an HDMI. But 2 pics that don't match each other and only 1 pic matches the write up.

It says it right at the end of the "Product Description" section. It's also referenced in several of the reviews. While I agree that it's missing in the picture of the one with the red lid, I can guarantee that it's there. This build of the Mini 10 has ALWAYS had HDMI. Why Dell makes 2 different Mini 10s with different specs is beyond me, but if HDMI is what you're looking for, this one has it.

And you know this how? From the description? Or have you ordered and already received one? If you offer a guarantee please provide actual pics and a guarntee to member to reimburse them if it is not true. Thanx
Thanks for the unnecessary smarta** tone, but I know this because as I said, this particular build has always had HDMI. AND the product description says it. I'm done trying to convince you...if you don't believe, don't order. Period. Your request that I "guarantee" it and then reimburse people if it doesn't have HDMI is not only out of place, it is also quite irritating.
This would be the point at which people normally whine and say "I wont post here again because somebody was mean to me". But I'll keep posting despite you because I know that for every person that posts asinine crap like you, several more quiet people benefit. PM me your paypal address and if you order this and if doesn't have HDMI, I'll send you a present.
Also, by the way...other people giving this post green must believe it, because without HDMI, this is no deal at all compared to the Mini 10 (1012) posted recently.

Just read through Product Description or use your browser search function ( CTRL + F ) and enter HDMI it'll highlight it for you
3 USB Ports. One microphone connector; one stereo headphone connector; one stereo line-out connector; and type A HDMI.
On the older Mini 10, the 6-cell battery sticks out of the bottom - just something to be aware of. And, no, I am NOT going to guarantee that it sticks out the bottom or else I have to Paypal someone money.

This is true...I would much prefer the newer Mini 10 (1012) because it integrates the 6 cell battery much better. This deal is obviously for people who value the HDMI out...which may or may not be included with this one
OP are you sure this is really a Dell Mini 10? How do you know this isn't actually a toaster oven? From the description? Or have you ordered and already received one?
Edit: if this really is a toaster oven please send me a sample of toast it produced so that I can decide if it's a good deal.
Buy Acer 1410 Netbook.....It's a netbook but with a faster processor and can upgrade to 4Gb RAM. Did I mention dual core? Atom processor is too weak and too slow. Also with Acer 1410, you get Windows 7 Premium (not a starter version). Acer 1410 is worth every penny. Loving my Acer 1410!

The feature text states: 1 GB of RAM (2 GB maximum capacity from single RAM slot)
I thought the memory was soldered on the 10v's and you could upgrade the 10's?

I think it was the other way around. 10v's are upgradable (though with some difficulty - have to remove entire back casing not just the memory slot) but 10's are not. Or at least that's how it used to be.
I have the mini 10, bought it when it first came out. And no it's not upgradable. I'm as sure as I can be of this (no guarantee, though) because I remember the huge fiasco over this when they were first coming out. Not sure if this one is somehow different though, since Amazon does seem to state it can be upgraded.
BTW, I know someone mentioned it, but I'm pretty sure the pictures show a mini 10 with the standard 3 cell battery and not the 6 cell battery which kind of bulges out at the bottom
the 6-cell battery sticking out gave the netbook a little tilt on the table, actually make it nicer to type on, like one of those keyboard leg you can flip. of course if you concern that it takes extra room when it's closed, thats another story, but the bulge doesnt really bother much and even improved on the ergonomics in my opinion.

Good job Dell. Confuse the heck out of your customers and go "Oh why don't you read the description". I would if it matches what you are selling!
Try returning Dell.. you will have more fun.. I spent more than 8 hours to return a $183 refurb defective mini.
The return guys were rude (the call center not in USA nor in INDIA) . When i explained the defects , The guy was telling "you are finding reasons to return a computer"
The quick procedure (may be 4 hour) Call up tech support and document the defect and try trouble shoot. Get the case number . Then Call return center and give the case number.

That's why the last deal of the newer 1012, I cancelled it right after I ordered it. Good thing is I was able to... almost pulled the trigger on this one but after I found out there is no way to upgrade RAM.
Then again, still better than the Lenovo S10 deal I got a while back, that sucker has a BIOS whitelist!
I was intrigued by this deal for the tv tuner, but the fixed RAM is a downer. I have a laptop with 1gb RAM on Win XP and it is always accessing the HD for virtual memory. Very sluggish and a PITA.

So does the 1012 have an HDMI port or not? Dells website shows the Mini 10 having one and the Mini 10V not having one. Can anyone confirm? I have a 1012 on order and if this thing is a POS I will cancel it.
did some research, and this is the best info i got, feel free to comment.
Chipset: z530 not n260 "The Z530 cpu has the same basic specs [as the n260], which makes things confusing, but the main diff is that the Z cpu uses 2.0 watts while the cheap one uses 2.5 watts. Additionally the Z has a different chipset which makes it able to do HD video while the cheap one would struggle." thx j hamilton "Even Z530 supports VTx, but you can't add RAM to this Mini 10!" thx k. leung
RAM: Not upgradable "*WARNING* YOU CANNOT UPGRADE RAM. Not "It's hard". You can't do it. Period. There is no door on the bottom to upgrade RAM and I just went in from the top. After digging the motherboard out, there is NO RAM sim. The 1 gig ram is part of the CPU. You cannot have 2 gig ram. You are stuck at 1 gig." - klahlass "You cannot upgrade the memory however-YOU CAN INCREASE MEMORY BY USING A MEMORY CARD-I inserted a 4GB and it instantly came up with something called "cache boost" and I alloted the amount of memory from that card I wanted to let the computer us a ram, (leaving a bit of memory for picture and file storage)." - jessica dilbert
P.S. those asking about the 1012(not 1010), that one is upgradable by taking the keyboard off.
O and on a personal note. I have the Dell 1010 n260, and I'm not sure how much better the performance on this z530 is but the HDMI on that mini really seems kind of pointless for doing anything other than running a slide show at HD. It cant run 720HD at 60fps without skipping unbearably, let alone 1080 (recorded with a Sony Bloggie).

So can you watch a movie on the screen from the hard drive or the quality terrible? That is one of the main things I want to be able to is watch movies on planes etc.

No. 1012 does not have an HDMI port... Again, OLD Mini 10 (1010) has one. Mini 10v and new Mini 10 (1012) DO NOT.
Thing is, you don't know what Amazon will ship you...
