Something odd about this deal...I have a D620 I purchased new; it came with a Core 2 Duo. This may be an earlier model, however.

I used to have one of these, and it was great - but that was a few years ago. For $300, with a 90 day warranty, 1 GB of RAM, and only a CD-RW, I don't think this is much of a value. Maybe if you only have that much to spend, but even then, wouldn't a mini be money better spent?

I'll pass...

40GB hard drive?

Is this 3 yr old corporate lease return repackaged as a "refurb"?

This model must have been made around 2006-2007. Later generations uses C2D. The CPU is upgradeable with only 667MHz FSB (max it can run is T7200, T7400, or T7600, same as MacBook Pro?)

I have the later version with C2D 2Ghz and 2GB ram... runs alot better than any 10" mini netbook...

i'm on one right now. other than the dvd drive being a philips and therefore prone to not working, it's been one of my better work computers.

Yeah, even this one will run much better than any netbook out there. But if this a out of lease laptop (most likely) then who know how much it was used/abused.

We still use these at work although most of us have the slightly newer D630 (which looks identical). I use the smaller sibling the D420 as my personal one at home. Latitudes are built very well.

Yes, that is correct, those are similar processors that were used in MacBook Pro's, although they use FCBGA instead of FCPGA processors. It's important to note that this will not support any Socket P Merom's, only the ones specified above that use the Socket M

geeks pays to have their items on deal sites. They have bad reviews on their refurbished products. A lot of complaints of their stuff being in poor conditioned and a lot more like used than refurbished. Ive seen them on a few different deal sites with old off lease laptops that really arent that great of a deal, its just they paid to have it posted there.

$300 for a used laptop with only a 40gb drive and no DVD drive? That's not even CLOSE to a hot deal

I've owned several D620's and supported other users as well. This model was notorious for overheating, display issues, memory problems, and battery/power failures and on top of all that it is ugly. Paying $299.99 for a refurbed, outdated pile of junk is not a good deal.
