Element Blu Ray player for $49.95 at Office Depot. Original price is $99.99, but they are on sale for $50 off. Don't know how long the sale is for, or even if it is national, so YMMV (this was not a store markdown). Saw this in Ft Worth TX...

SKU is 893945, click here

OD said: Stay Away! There is absolutely no support for this product. I purchased it during the Thanksgiving sales and worked fine until I started renting newer Blu Ray movies. They will not play on the outdated player. I have tried updating the firmware with the files supplied by the manufacturer's website - but it does not work. I have called their Support line, but no one ever answers it and voicemessages are never returned. Now it is just a hit and miss to see if our rented blu ray movies will play on the machine.

Good reviews on notasinglewebsite.com

I have this machine. It works like a rock. Plays Divx, too, and has a USB port. Don't forget, there's a $10 off $50 coupon in the Staples flier this week to drop the price a bit more with filler.

How many BluRay discs have you played with it?

There's only been one that I couldn't play. (can't remember the title) I rent my BluRay discs from Blockbuster, so I go through quite a bit. But updating the firmware is a must on this. It fixed loads of issues.

Unfortunately item 893945 is no longer available for purchase

Updating firmware is a must for all BluRay players...and another one is coming/here if you want to play Avatar.

Is the firmware update available from within the player via internet? Or do I need to go through some other hoops?

I found the upgrade online and put it on a USB drive. Plugged the drive in the unit and followed the online instructions.

hey guys, i created an account to let you know i used the 10 dollar off Staples coupon and got the bluray player for 43 and some change at my Office Depot.

If you're feeling nice, and want to offer a link to the online instructions, you'd be doing a service to the lazy among us.

Firmware ETC
I couldn't find any locally. If anyone is willing to get one and ship it to me for cost plus shipping, etc, let me know.
