The season premier is tomorrow at 9/8 central. As with last year's thread, spoilers are allowed here after the show has aired. If you TiVo it and don't want to be spoiled, don't look here.

Over at AMC's website for the show you can watch six webisodes which "detail the events just when the world ended, specifically the life of Hannah, also known as "bicycle girl," who appeared in the first episode of the series."

If you need a refresher to last year, here's wiki's season 1 episode guide.

Finally, here's a link to last year's thread on the first season.

Premiere was great. Wife lasted about 3 minutes before leaving; daughter and I watched the rest of the episode by ourselves. She was scared enough that she made me sit in front of the window and she moved to the chair with a solid wall behind it. Like that'll help; I wasn't armed, so the zombies will just get her after they break through the window and chow down on my ass.

For those who missed it, the season 2 premiere is being repeated tonight at 10pm on AMC.

Best line of last night's episode was from Daryl: "Shut up!" and the subsequent crossbow bolt through the walker's head.

Except for a few news and contest shows, I don't watch much TV, certainly no dramas, but a friend convinced to to check out WD. I watched part of a rerun on AMC this weekend where a young girl disappears, and then watched the season opener last night. I have one question to ask:

What's the big deal??

Anyway, maybe it would help if I checked out KKH's webisode info on how this zombie stuff came to be.

I find it refreshing to see what I consider good, well written drama. Compared the glut of cheap garbage "reality" programs, this is good stuff.

It's a zombie program, but they concentrate on the interactions of the human characters. Wife couldn't watch the season premiere, left after 5 minutes. She stayed through the whole thing last night, 1/2 or 2/3 of the way through, she said to daughter and I, "Haven't seen any zombies tonight?". There were some, like the darkly humorous dispatch of a walker I mentioned above, but it concentrated on the humans last night.

Wife sat in the recliner with the wall behind her, so this time daughter had to sit on couch in front of window with me, noticed she sat right up next to me.

Could easily be about a conventional plague or a family moving west in the 1800's; zombies are just the vehicle to move the plot along in this case. Also, the season is only 13 episodes long, so that should help to keep the quality of the writing up.

So someone please explain. 2 experienced people on the lookout. 1 with binoculars. They don't see the zombies coming down the road until they are about 100 feet away. Why even show the guy with the binoculars standing on top of the truck?

Dale probably assumed that since they had come that way and not seen walkers, it was safe to only look forward.

Dale probably assumed that since they had come that way and not seen walkers, it was safe to only look forward. Besides that they were deep in stalled traffic in a wooded area. Which is not to say I can defend the holes. The flagship is 1967 Winnebago that keeps breaking down? Stop by a dealership and pick up a half million dollar 30' diesel pusher. If an RV is even a sensible way to travel. They should all have motorcycles or cars. Plus the first thing I thought of was Stephen King's THE STAND, I believe they always traveled with a wrecker. Duh.

But you gotta suspend disbelief with this kind of show, and I'm enjoying it. MFP, that's pretty astute about how the zombies are only vehicles to move the plot along. THe chick on the horse with the bat was the best part of this episode.

Yeah, I'd forgotten about her awesome swing, she was the reason Daryl took the head shot to finish off that walker.

I also like the largely unknown actors, lowers the pre-existing characterizations some actors might bring. So far, I've only recognized Dale, the doc at the CDC, the vet who's treating Carl; and the only actor's name I know played Daryl's brother(Michael Rooker from Days of Thunder, Cliffhanger, etc).

Very intense, I did not expect the final turn at all. I was very proud of my wife again last night, she managed to sit through the episode and only had to turn away from the gore at the ending plot twist.

Read this morning that season 2 is split in two, the first 7 episodes are this fall, then a delay until February 12, 2012 when the remaining 6 episodes will air.

Looking forward to Hell on Wheels, set during the time of the Transcontinental Railroad construction, begins next Sunday on AMC right after Walking Dead.

Lori is Dr. Sarah Tangrady formerly of Prison Break and I fully agree about why they're traveling in a crappy beat up RV.

Gotta say that Daryl is becoming more and more likable than from the beginning, wonder how and when Merrill will come back.

One thing that gets me is how much 'smarter' these zombies are compared to those in other shows and movies, i.e. these zombies can run, think, and learn?

the zombies couldn't run last season. just sayin'

I agree with the vehicle upgrade. And how about a monster truck or a half-track. Something that'll just roll over those bistiches. And a quick stop at an armory or gun store wouldn't hurt. Let's get some fire power and flame throwers in there. Might as well declare war on these zombie mothers.

With the ending of the last episode, I'm reminded of a saying...."How fast do you have to be to get away from a charging lion? Just a little faster than the guy you are with!" This deputy was fit and in great shape and could easily outrun his partner, but he came up lame. So he shot him to tip the scale of the playing field to his advantage. Not a very nice thing to do. So you might have to think....... what would you do in a situation like that?

I keep thinking MAYBE... just MAYBE... he felt that he HAD to do that or they were BOTH dead. But, it almost seemed purely malicious and evil (his actions... he didn't say anything like "sorry, man... one of us has to make it back").

I don't want to hate that guy... but, right now he comes off as pure evil.

I agree. It's noble to jump on a grenade to save the whole squad. You're a DB if you shove someone ELSE onto a grenade to save the whole squad.

im told zombies run faster at nighttime?

he is a DB. Ditched his "best friend" in the hospital & hooked up with his wife? He's an opportunist. I hope he gets eaten soon, but IRL, the DBs never get eaten.

Lessons learned last night:

When you find a "live" walker in a well, just shoot it and abandon the well. Anything else is too risky and too much work.
When a good natured attractive woman, with an excellent right-handed polo swing, offers to have sex with you in a post apocalyptic world, always say yes.

Is the kid Rick's or Shanes? Water zombie was the grossest zombie so far. I suppose Mrs patsfan went to the kitchen for some chips during that sequence.

Water Zombie was freakin' AWESOME! Zombie kill of the season!

Kandykornhead said:   Is the kid Rick's or Shanes? Water zombie was the grossest zombie so far. I suppose Mrs patsfan went to the kitchen for some chips during that sequence.I think it's Shane's, don't think Rick's been out of the hospital long enough, based on Lori's reaction.

That one caused Mrs. Patsfan to cover her eyes and kinda duck behind her laptop screen. She's getting better, tonight I flipped to the Pats-Jets game during a commercial and after a minute or so she was asking to switch back. She was squeemish again however during Daryls' battle tonight.

A whole freaking BARN full of walkers!?!? Dude's got some 'splainin to do....

What valuable lesson did we learn this week boys and girls? Never put a woman on the long gun!

SecondGunman said:   What valuable lesson did we learn this week boys and girls? Never put a woman on the long gun!At least not one that has a death wish, a chip on her shoulder, and shoots into the sun's glare without verifying her target.

Finally got caught up on this and watched the half season finale, and what an awesome episode it was. Pretty much figured Sophia was going to be a walker, but didn't expect her to be in the barn. Seems like something Herschel should of mentioned...hey you know how you guys have been risking your life looking for a little girl...well guess what I got in my barn. I love what they are doing with Shane, he is definitely becoming more and more like a psychopath, but as pointed out in the episode, you may have to be a psychopath to survive in the walking dead world.
