Any amount of money can buy happiness...the point is not to waste it on yourself but to help someone in need.

It's not really that $50,000 is the amount that makes you happy, it's more that up to that point people tend to be less happy because they are struggling to pay for necessities, and $75,000 people are already pretty comfortable so more money doesn't make as much difference - in economic terms, the marginal benefit of each additional dollar is less.

Personally, I'd happily trade a large chunk of my salary/savings to be more successful in other areas of my life, like with the ladies.

I can be your lifestyle Coach. You'll get laid on my program or your money back!

Yeah.. and for cheap ones, ask the Secret Service agents.

I don't want to be happy, I want enough to be ecstatic

I don't think money brings happiness. But it can make your life easier so you have less stress in that area.

It says, "Happiness: Now 33% Off!", but I can't find the discount code anywhere.

$50000 at a 33% discount = $16500. Discount automatically applied to all future paychecks. Have a nice day.

Nice piece of change for a start!

The salary that will make me happy is $0 as that will mean I'm retired.

$50K wont get me a Ferrari. Getting a Ferrari will make me very happy

I would be pretty happy with 50,000. Especially since I'm getting ready to take a big income hit when I switch to a part time gig next month

If I could find a decent job that made same money as in healthcare, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

In other words, it takes at least a $1000 a week to stay afloat in today's economy.

But you get stressed out at your high salary job for sure.

More than that if you live in an expensive place like NYC.

99.99% less would still make me happy.

I am the 0.01%

If it makes you happy
Then why the hell are you so sad?

I rotated his avatar 180 and now he's smiling. Sorta.

I have not made over $10,000 in over 13 years...
My friends see me on Fatwallet and say "Fatwallet huh? it obviously don't work"
Wait! wait! I don't qualify for FWF!! They have free stuff!
OT happiness is a warm bed...
Some people just don't understand!

I hit 50K 4 years ago then my company put on a salary freeze and stopped allowing overtime.
Guess they don't want me to get any happier.

fixed

right...which is $16000 less, so

At this point...$0 would make me much happier than the $45k I get now.

But it's Wednesday. Ask me again on Friday.

50k will make you happy.. but more money will make you more happy.. until you reach about 100k-125k. After that, law of diminishing returns takes into effect.

I know I'm much happier now than I was when I was making far more than that

your reason for stress wasnt money though.. it was regulations and day-to-day headaches being na business owner.
You're much happier now only because of the tons of money you made when you were actually working.

I'd be extremely unhappy if I was only making 50k.

i suddenly feel unattractive to moonbeam

True, though cost of living plays a big part. Some areas of the country $100k is a closer approximation to 50k in others for the same standard of living.

Haven't really thought about it. But, but if You ask me and first answer that comes on my mind is 100,000. Nice round number

Skipping 22 Messages...

but it's nice to be near the parents and also my prior 2 dogs, one of which is going die soon. :\
I probably won't visit them more frequently just because we are near them, but the idea seemed nice.

Now I have no time to go visit it! I already know the town, I just need to visit the hospital. : Hubby is trying to convince me to find a job that fits me, not a job that is near my parents...

Your husband is giving you good advice, unless you guys were planning to rely on the grandparents for babysitting services.
