Is it time for a Kindle forum?

It seems like half the hot deals/free items are Kindle books that a great majority of people could care less about. Maybe it's time to create a category just for those folks that think a free Kindle book on how to stew potatoes is a great thing?

If the great majority could care less about Kindle deals let's keep them at the forefront, where the majority will see them. Let's create a forum for guns, something the great majority could not care less about.

Free Kindle book on grammar

What's a potato?

Kindle is a series of e book readers. An example is an Amazon kindle. Amazon Kindle eReaders enable users to shop for, download, browse, and read e books, newspapers, magazines, blogs, and other digital media.

They should just make a digital deals forum for Kindle/iOS/Android, etc.

free stuff and hotdeals both have "tags" that identify what sort of item the deal is. You can sort deals according to tags, ignoring whatever you wish. There's not currently a kindle tag, but if you asked for that, you'd probably get it.

Yeah SD has one. It works great. It is called FREE DIGITAL GOODS.

I think a separate forum for would be a benefit for both those who don't want to see Hot Deals flooded with Kindle offers and help the e-reader crowd find what they want easily.

I also wonder how any members post Free books just for "rep"
And how many download free books simply because they are free with no intention to read said book.

They need to be consolidated.

We got a kindle fire for Christmas and haven't touched it since. In fact I don't even know where it is.

Would a Kindle make a good gift for a 12 y/o girl?

No, get her a Justin Bieber instead.

dkong said:   Would a Kindle make a good gift for a 12 y/o girl?If she likes to read, then I'd say yes.

After I got one as a Christmas gift, my 15 yr old liked it so much she bought herself a Kindle Keyboard 3G few days later for $99 at Target. She's been on it constantly ever since.

Also, if anyone buys a Kindle reader, go with the one with ads. Relative that bought mine paid $189 without ads, $90 more than daughter's. The ads are only visible when the Kindle is off or at the bottom of the library, never when reading.

She's gotten $1.00 book deals that I've used; I bought Civil War history book Battle Cry of Freedom for $1 with one, instead of $9.48 for Kindle version and $11.56 for paperback regularly. In fact, I turned the ads feature to On for mine to make sure I don't miss deals.

I bought this one for $49 from this HD thread. It has the ads, which people say are not intrusive.

She is a studious type, and I hope this will encourage her to read even more. What's the 3G model that your daughter got? Does it have internet? Won't that turn it into an iPod and distract the user from reading?

That looks like quite a good deal. My dad bought a refurb Kindle Fire from Amazon, has exact same warranty as new, he's very happy with the refurb.

My daughter has the 3G Kindle with keyboard. There's a basic browser in the "Experimental" tab on the menu, but it's quite slow and awkward to use when on wifi, nearly useless on 3G. As it's not easy to use, my daughter doesn't even bother. She's a voracious reader, the books are so easy to get and read, she's continued to use it a lot for the past 5 months now, still uses her netbook for internet and doing papers for homework.

There is a thread on Hot Deals. But the free books get separate threads by OP's apparently not aware of the thread. Free Stuff has about a dozen threads for Kindle books, there's at least another half-a-dozen for Nook books, and then the iPod/iPad and Google Android free apps. I like the idea of a forum just for free e-books and smartphone/tablet apps.

ETA: There is a thread over in the FatWallet forum on this subject as well.
