Technically just one day (wednesday) however I work 4 ten hour days and my normal day off is Tuesday, so I took a vacation day for Monday and will not have to be into work until Thursday and Friday. So I will just work 2 days, for the price of one day's vacation.

The minivan is in goodbye gear for VACATION 2012! After the blessing and the handshaking tomorrow it's off to Seattle. We have "cheap Seattle" one year where we visit relatives and do mostly free stuff, and then we have "Spendy Seattle" where we do all the touristy $tuff. This year is a spendy year. Maybe I'll post some pics. I'll no doubt check in. Heck I should start a thread!

I only get Hump Day off. Same as if Xmas was on a Wednesday. If Xmas comes on a Tuesday or Thursday, then it is a four day weekend. 4th of July is never that special.

Just the 4th, but I am thinking about taking a 1/2 day on Friday.

Before: factory plans "july shutdown week" during which all machine changes/annual maintenance work will occur. Everybody gets holiday pay for the 5 days, but engineers and technicians have to work, and get paid their holiday pay in cash.
recent years: same as above, except we don't actually shut down, but instead we run full tilt because we're always behind. No maintenance work gets done. Paying all 4000 workers double or tripple time for a whole week is, it turns out, expensive. Management says it will look for a solution.
this year: same as above, except management is silent about the holiday schedule until they announce *yesterday* that wednesday and thursday are holidays, monday tuesday and friday are normal days with no extra pay, we will be shut down wednesday, and everyone will be working mon, tue, thur, fri.

I've been "off" for as long as I can remember.
Going to Vegas over the 4th. Got tickets to the Las Vegas Hotel's fireworks show and BBQ buffet (this hotel was previously Las Vegas Hilton).

We are only taking July 4th off. We have too many orders to pack and ship and I hate getting behind.

More like they decide that wednesday doesn't count as a real holiday, and still stay open. Or they say because it's a holiday, everyone has to work and they mail you some crappy trinket and a paper that says "happy holiday season"

My husbands job is on shutdown all week but he has to work everyday but the 4th. I take Mondays and Friday off so I have every other day off. At least for my husband he gets paid extra or earns extra vacation days for working and double time on Sundays.

Off only on the 4th, will most likely take 5th off and park on the porch, as my golf clubs are arriving that day! I decided to work this week and take next week off when most are at work.

Tipped and fell into water, lost an oar and got filmed by some home owners (I must have showed up on AFV fo-sure). Me and my partner finished the rest 7 miles with one oar and someone found and turned in the lost oar, so didn't have to pay for that
No matter what, they are always fun!

No extra days off but it sure feels like it should be a day off today. Must be knowing Wednesday is a day off.
