what do people, who have to wear security badge do? i have plastic ID case on a lanyard. but the case only holds 1 card and I'd like to put another on the backside. what do y'all do for this? i'm thinking of getting retractable one. all the hospital staff seem to do it that way.

They wear something like this But I prefer the retractable kind because I don't like lanyards that make me feel like I'm wearing a necktie.

Go to www.SpecialistID.com. They sell all the badge holder stuff. I have a badge with a chip on it that I also can use in a card reader to log into the computer network. I wear it around my neck n a plastic rigid card holder that has room for two cards to slide in. The lanyard around my neck has a break away clip in back. Much safer if you get it caught or someone grabs you by it. Often the badge is in my shirt pocket so it's not swinging around. No real need for me to have it show 100% of the time.

lanyard with a (most likely) waterproof case that has enough room for maybe three cards I have two IDs, one showing through on either side used to keep it clipped to the side of my purse (never had to worry about forgetting it that way) but one day at a doctor appt, a lady asked me if I'd dropped something the container popped open somehow and both of my IDs were laying on the ground it lives in the purse now and I rarely take it out, guess the blind lady is either harmless enough or they all know me now

Our "badges" are student ID's so mine stays in my wallet, which is kind of a hassle if i'm going in/out. A few of my coworkers do the lanyard thing, but it requires punching a hole in the card. That wasn't a big deal in the past when our cards were mag stripe, but we recently moved our access control system over to proximity ID's, which means you need to be really careful about where you punch a hole in them or you will put a hole thru the prox chip.

I found my badge holder on the SpecialistID site. My badge itself is very similiar, with the chip. The second slot is occupied with a plastic emergency information card my employer gave me with the badge. It's large enough for anything that is credit card size, but not embossed, so a regular credit card wouldn't fit. Probably a good use for the other slot is if your local transit system uses a smart chip enabled card. Los Angeles County uses a system called TAP for buses/trains. Convenient for employees who take public transit to work.

The hospital security office should have offered a retractable clip.
It is extremely useful to be able to slide the ID through each dang security door lock if you have to travel any distance through the hospital. I hate wearing a lanyard, they are annoying.

Ours have to be visible above the waist at all times. My corporate badge fits in a plastic sleeve that has a metal clip; my other badge for secure areas has a plastic clip. Also have the corporate calender in badge size, we get a new one each year. All hang on a retractable clip holder that hangs on a Bass Pro Shops black & gold lanyard, that allows me to swipe-in without leaning over.
Retractable clip on. have proximity sensors on our cards.. and have to use it to get in/out of building (those smokers also have to use it to go to the outdoor designated smoking area)
<-- as you can see.. I need a new id.. mine is breaking apart from where the clip is.
