A few of us were talking about the safest and most comfortable place to live in the US and no one could agree on a location. I'm bringing the question to you guys! When you consider hurricanes (south, SE) tornados (south, midwest) earthquakes (west coast) blizzards (north) extreme heat (AZ) or cold (Fargo) and other weather phenomena, what cities or areas are left that one would consider comfortable and low risk?

Too Dang Cold!

However, it has been the most safe city, crimewise, for a few years. MsMojo was raised there, so I keep an eye on the area and vist frequently. I was raised in Sunnyvale, CA which also has had the same title of most safe city, they trade off depending on who has the misfortune of haveng a homicide or two.

One thing Amherst has that Sunnyvale lacks - Wegman's!

Fort Knox.

Gettysburg, PA

Went visiting there a while back, and I swear - people walked around throughout the town in their Civil War era clothing. Now if someone can do that without getting mugged, then I say that's a pretty crime-free area!

Wow. I checked on my little town. The crime rate looks bad. The thing is, crime jumps up during Spring Break, but the rest of the year is very safe. So it skews the statistics.

Boston, MA is nice. Cold winters, but generally safe in terms of natural disasters and crime.

Look into Boston suburbs. Newton was voted the safest small town in the country. San Jose, CA was voted safest large city (if youre down with the West Coast)

Camden, New Jersey.

U looking for some "safe" place to move ? What about a job or business? Is this for having kids?

I believe many of the safest area change safety drastically in different block ( if your in a city )

Example - South Beach Miami compared to Miami city. Only 5 minutes away.
Manhattan compared to others 10 minutes away.
San Diego to nearby city's, etc.

The secret, heavily armored, tactical La-Z-Boy factory facility. Unfortunately I can't tell you what state it's in. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border=0>

I thought Camden was in the top ten most crime infested cities this year. It actually beat out Newark.
