Just heard it on the radio this morning, but see no confirmation on the Web. Still sans Michael Anthony, who is evidently going to tour with Sammy Hagar. Not til September, so there's plenty of time for it all to fall apart many times over.

Oh the drama.

It's a bit ridiculous. Either get your shit together and tour, or don't.

I heard about a reunion tour, too, with David Lee Roth. Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie's son, will take the place of Michael Anthony.

Melodic Rock is reporting that Van Halen are going ahead with their planned reunion tour with David Lee Roth. The band now consisting of David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Eddie's son Wolfgang Van Halen have reportedly gotten together and are "penciling in" dates and venues for what Melodic Rock says will be a US tour starting in September. No official word has come out yet.

If Eddie can stay sober this summer, there is a possibility of a reunion tour. This is what he had to say about his last attempt at a reunion:

In February, after much hype and tentative announcements the planned Van Halen reunion tour was called off. The band then cancelled plans to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

What happened? In March Eddie Van Halen entered rehab for a month long stay to be treated for alcohol-related problems. At the time he entered treatment he issued the following statement: I would like Van Halen fans to know how much I truly appreciate each and every one of you. Without you there is no Van Halen.

I have always and will always feel a responsibility to give you my best. At the moment I do not feel that I can give you my best. That's why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110% that I feel I owe you and want to give you.

Some of the issues surrounding the 2007 Van Halen tour are within my ability to change and some are not. As far as my rehab is concerned, it is within my ability to change and change for the better. I want you to know that is exactly what I'm doing, so that I may continue to give you the very best I am capable of.

The part of Eddie Van Halen will now be played by Valerie Bertinelli.

"Hot for Teacher" is one of my favorites, including the video. Oh, take me back to 1984!

Maybe you can install a Flux Capacitor in spitfiresuz's Airstream?

When Mattc sees this he's gonna be pissed with you guys...

I can't find the current picture of Eddie with his new teeth and hair plugs right after he got out of rehab, but he looks 10000000 times better!

I'm glad! He was beginning to look like a walking corpse.

he doesn't look like this anymore? damn!:P

Did someone say walking corpse?

I will forever have him etched in my mind looking like This

he was on the cover of the march issue of guitar world here, bf showed me a better pic from one of the guitar forums but FIIK where it is.

ETA: thats the one he showed me Kel- amazing huh???

kelchild said: wow! can't believe this is him.

yep - that is the picture. He looks so healthy there, wonder what lurks underneath the hair and teeth!

I sure hope the tour will come my way...it's one that I will certainly sign up to work!

What about David Lee Roth? What's he up to? Did he straighten his act out or is his brain fried from extended drug use?

Whoa, that picture of Eddie Van Halen barely looks old enough to be the grandfather of the picture of Bob Dylan that is on the back cover of Time Out of Mind!

I have no idea if this is what DLR is still doing, but he was doing it in 2004. I sense it was for publicity.

"Rocker David Lee Roth, the former Van Halen frontman, is taking up a new trade. Roth, 50, has been riding for several weeks with a New York ambulance crew in training to become a paramedic, The New York Post reported today.
"I have been on over 200 individual rides now," said Roth. "Not once has anyone recognised me, which is perfect for me."
The singer, who spent a decade with Van Halen before embarking on a solo career, except for a collaboration with the band for two new songs on a greatest hits album, has been riding along with crews in the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn several nights a week. His training seems to be going well."

I can't stand DLR and even I know what he has been up to. Last January he was picked to replace Howard Stern on that CBS radio show and he was canned in April of the same year because he sucked.

They will tour when Chinese democracy comes out.

DLR looks old but healthy. He's always been into martial arts and more into staying in shape than the rest of them.

Man, the next chapter in the Van Halen soap. All I can say is I hope it actually happens this time. The MUST pull it off this time or hang it up.

The VH web site. Not "from the VH web site", this is it:

Nah, actually it's an "I heard it here first".

The tour is on....at least it is today says Billboard

Sources say a Hollywood press conference in one week will announce a 50-date American arena tour by Van Halen to begin in early October. The tour will feature founding Van Halen members David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen and Alex Van Halen, with Eddie's son Wolfgang on bass.

Interesting...but I dunno if I want to go unless it's the original four. No offense to Wolfie, but Michael Anthony was as big a part of VH's original sound as the other three in his own way. All the infighting over the years has really diminished them in my mind.

I don't plan on going, but the drama will be fun

Ever watch Spongebob? I'm thinking they'll look like Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy when they finally hit the stage.

Shhh-wheat! I'm glad it got postponed 'cause now it's an arena tour. I only like outdoor concerts in stadiums and our outdoor venue really sucks anyway. I had a feeling this was coming soon, between the rumors and their playing the shyte out of VH on the radio lately.

50 tour dates? I guess that gives my city a bit of a chance to get the show here. Hopefully it will come to a venue where I work. If not, might have to take the plunge and buy tickets for myself and my 18 year old.

I would love to see Van Halen. My daughters asked me the other day if I would take them and a few of their friends to the Spice Girls reunion concert in December. YIKES!

Well, it's official, a 25-date (so far) tour kicking off in Charlotte. Our date is 10/26 at the Sprint Center, kick ass!

They said they may even cut a new record together.

Not coming to any of the venues I work, but will be in North Carolina...a possibility, perhaps. Not sure if I want to drive that far.

I think this is gonna be one of those glaring reminders that you can't go back. Kudos to the boys if they can pull it off. I think I'll choose to remember them in their glory years.

I do hear ya, but I think it'll be pretty good, if you don't expect too much, e.g. Van Halen circa 1984.
On a side note, I'm glad it's an arena tour. I not fond of the fascination with amphitheaters in recent years.

Well, it's rumored that it's actually a 50-date tour and this is just the first half.

DLR has to walk on eggs shells around Eddie. I can't believe how much a dick Eddie is being toward the original bassist. Wahhhhh...he toured with Sammy.

That being said I'll probably check it out if tickets prices are not too crazy.

Yes, but if they are starting off in NC and heading north and west, I doubt they will circle back to the east coast.

Should be cool in 20 years when they do the next reunion tour...by then, they'll have had as many members as "Yes".

“We send our thanks to the countless new and lifetime fans that helped make this tour our most successful,” said VAN HALEN in a joint statement. “We also send special gratitude to the tireless efforts of the VAN HALEN touring crew, Live Nation and the media, as well as opening acts Ky Mani Marley and Ryan Shaw,” the band went on to say.

I am so glad I got to see this show! Hard to believe it was almost nine months ago.
