I hate the idea of paying $200 for a plastic box to put my dryer and washing machine on. Has anyone used anything else instead that is cheaper?

Got mine in the basement out of sight so appearance doesn't matter to me which is why mine is setting on a 2x4" frame w/ plywood.
I could dress it up to match color but I just don't care enough to bother.
It does make it easier to get clothes in/out dryer.

The dealer tried to blame my mother. My mother replaced it with a Whirlpool that she kept or well over 20 years.

A homemade pedestal is also nice because you can build in some storage.
