Which would you choose, the best friend or sex?

I had a long explanation of what's going on, but I'll keep it simple. Choose between one of these two options, but it can be one and only one.
1. Being celibate, but completely happy with just hanging out with your friend of the opposite gender, who you'll never date or hook up with.
2. Not see above listed friend as often, and date / have a casual, physical relationsip with a friend who you've had a thing for, for a while.

EDIT: I don't feel like explaining any of it. I'm just curious what other people, mostly guys, would do.

Why do the choices have to be exclusive of each other? Can't be a friend to one and physical with the other?

In that case, if it were me, I'd go for #2 and see how much #1 I could manage with any time left over from #2 as long as #2 wasn't jealous.

I go with option #2.
If you had a thing for her, might as well date her and find out if she is the one for you. Dont pass up on an opportunity. If it doesnt work out, well you can always be friends again if both of you can handle that.

Are you looking for a companion, or just a fling? Answer that, then look at which one fits that description better for what you want...then tell that person how you feel.

most guys (ok, maybe ALL?) will probably say #2, but i will tell you....

girl #2 will most likely end up getting jealous sooner or later, even though she may originally start out thinking "it's just sex". why? i don't know. it's how chicks work.

if girl #1 likes you in that way, you don't like her like that, then she'll most likely be jealous anyway. and most of the time, two jealous girls will turn out to be the biggest headache for you. it probably would have been a little different if they knew nothing about each other to begin with.

so that's rule #1--NEVER tell one chick about even the possibility of there being another chick "somewhere" in the picture, even if you're not bf/gf.

why do you have to devote all your time to a girl (#1) who you will never date or have sex with?
i have a few friends who are the opposite gender which i talk to on the phone and casually hang out with as frequent as twice every week and up to as distant as once a month. if your hanging out with her because she likes you and you dont, how are you helping her? now if this is strictly platonic and nothing more, understand that you're not part of a siamese twin. it's ok if you want to have other hobbies or do other stuff or ppl without your friend. unless, your friend wants to join along in which case, you're a god damn lucky bastard. a friendship should not fall because you've taken other interest.

now since you mentioned the word "date", does this mean you have hopes of more than a special friend with girl #2? if you are seeking for more, stop right there! if this girl strictly has the idea of just a physical relationship, understand if u decide to take this route, you may get hurt. now if the idea of having emotions involve with girl #2 is out the window, why do you have to devote all your time to someone you're just f*cking? special friends should not mean luggage and if it does, good bye! if you wanted attachments, you would of started a real relationship.

Judging by your past, it'll probably be harder for you to get another girl to willingly want to have sex with you than another "best friend."

If I was single, I go for #2! Hell Yeah!
