Are you a different-foods-shouldn't-touch person or a mush-it-all-together person?

This is prompted by my macaroni and cheese with pears in it thread. I'm the former. I also don't like cake and ice cream, gravy touching my veggies, and I believe strawberry shortcake should be served one two plates, one for the strawberries and one for the shortcake.

I do not like when my bread/dinner roll touches anything on my plate.

depends on the food for me

cake/ice cream ok

gravy touching meat or potatoes is good
gravy touching veggies is tolerable
gravy touching cranberry sauce or other cold stuff is bad

shortcake/whipped cream/strawberries mandatory

But OP, didn't you once say you like mustard on a cinnamon raisin bagel?

It's a free-for-all on my plate. Food everywhere. Keep your fingers at least 4" away.

I don't mind things touching, BUT no liquids like from vegetables for example should ever maneuver around the plate and get on other things.

How did you get the beans above the frank?

Food touching is a no-no for me. I had my own "special dinner plate" (a divided plate) when I was growing up.

Umm, you're not supposed to take home the meal trays from the cafeteria.

So how'd you get little SL in the oven then? Immaculate Convection?

Those who don't like food touching must find it hard to make shepherd's pie.

I would have no problem making shepherds pie, just wouldn't eat it

If the foods were cooked together, its probably ok, as in soups and stews (and shepherd's pie). But if they were cooked separately, and put on the plate separately, then they should just stay away from one another.

And condiments are different. Cinnamon raisin bagels and mustard is fine too.

I guess I'm totally irrational.
