I have a 39" x 54" print, which I'd like to put in a simple (ie. inexpensive) frame, and hang on the wall.

24" x 36" poster frames are easy to find, priced low, and exactly the sort of thing I have in mind. But 39" x 54" is somewhat larger than what most stores carry.

I'd even settle for one of those frame kits, where I buy two 54" pieces, two 39" pieces, and four corner pieces, then screw them together into a frame.

But the main thing is that I want to keep the expense low. That means no custom framing, no $175 frame + $69 shipping, nothing like that.

Any suggestions?

I would add that I may have to go to Kinkos (or some similar place) and get the print mounted on foam board or something like that, prior to framing it. So bonus points to you if you have a less pricey option on that part of it.

Search for the hollywoodposterframes store on eBay. Contact them for a quote.

Cut the print into 8.5"x11" sheets and then tape them back together. Hang the picture on the wall using more Scotch tape. Total cost is 99-cents for the tape.

could always try a collage poster, using Q's suggestion but in like 9 or 12 frames arranged where you arrange it like a warhol-y squared setting.

I appreciate the suggestions, but let's go on the assumption that I will not be cutting the print into smaller pieces, nor will I be scotch taping it to the wall. For that matter, neither do I want to hang it unframed using sticky putty or two-sided tape on the print's corners. What I wish to do is place a suitable and inexpensive frame around the entire print, and hang the resulting framed print on my wall. And just for the record, any ideas involving dumpster diving out behind the custom framing shop, theft, or magic, are probably non-starters, too.

Thanks for the suggestion, HorB. I've contacted hollywoodposterframes and am awaiting their reply.

Michaels (and I think Joann) stores sell the metal sides in pairs. There are almost always 40% off one regular item coupons available for them (and they accept each others coupons in my experience). Glass or plexi if you want that will be much less expensive at a hardware or window shop than there however.

Yep, go for Michael's and the 40% coupon and then off to HD or Low*s for the plexi.

I'll try Michael's (either later today, or tomorrow), but I suspect they don't have those metal sides in 54" length.

Yes I'm aware of that. So was I.
