You'd be better off by increasing your aerobic exercise by 15-30 minutes a day.

I dont agree that low carb diets arent healthy if you follow them properly. Diabetics especially do well on lower carb diets. Low fat diets make you hungry all the time. The ideal diet (in my opinion) is low glycemic.
It's not so much the low carbs but the high saturated fat of some such diets, like Atkins'.

Update...hubby is close to 30 pounds down. I've lost 2 sizes. (And I don't want to find them again.)

Atkins works. Anyways, if you follow it with common sense. For example you can eat all the meats you want. But please don't go eating 10 pounds of bacon and 10 burgers (-buns) b/c you will loose weight and then you'll die.

NO! NO! NO! This is all bad advice if you are looking to lose weight the healthy way. Human bodies were not made to consume and digest high levels of protein like this. This puts your organs under extreme stress. Eat a balanced diet and exercise. If you are a person that never exercises, just start with a walk once a day. You will be amazed at what a 30 minute brisk daily walk with the right diet will do to your waistline. The trick is, you have to do it for more than 3 days. Try it for 30 and then let us know the results. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Cut out the crap. If you eat crap you are going to be fat. Period. Also, a salad with ranch dressing is not healthy. Cut out the bottled processed sauces and dressings. In fact, try to cut out anything processed. Eat natural and from the Earth.

I'd honestly like you to know if you are one of the following:
A. a food expert
B. a doctor
C. all of the above

Like I stated before ^^ following a sensible diet plan that cuts out carbs such as bread and white rice isn't something "bad". Lean meats, chicken, fresh veggies.. I don't see a thing wrong with this? Add some vitamins and your good to go!

I have never met anyone who did Atkins but didn't lose weight. But most of the people tell me all the meat they ate made them feel not so great, some even described it as miserable.

I'm actually feeling better. There WAS a period of really low energy as far as muscle function. It was hard to walk up steps, propel myself out of the car and things like that. I'm eating wayyyyy less than I used to. Today I had breakfast, which was about 1/4 of an omelet, 2 bites of a fruit bowl, coffee. No lunch. No dinner (yet). I'll probably have SOMETHING for dinner, it IS my birthday. But, no cake! (And I'm OK with that.)
