my last hurray!

This is going to be the hardest thing I have ever done. Tomorrow is my last day as drinker. I've been wanting to do this for years but never had the willpower. I'm starting a very expensive yoga program on Monday. The members are serious to the extreme and make you feel like a complete idiot/loser/jackass if you are not dedicated to your health in and out of classes. Since I cannot consume alcohol in moderation, it is best for me to omit it from my life once and for all. I know I couldn't do it without the motivation from this group. The first week is going to be the hardest. 6 days of classes in a row and rest on Sunday. I'm nervous.

If you need help, AA is only a phone call away. Look in your phone book. There are people there who understand the obsession to drink. Your yoga buddies will not understand this. Good Luck.

Good luck!

Thank you. I will keep that in mind if I get in the "Dang I need a drink" mood.

I don't plan on talking to them about it because I agree they wouldn't understand. I'm just motivated by being surrounded by them and the healthy environment.

Thanks! I'm going to need it!

looks like you choose the wrong month to quit drinking..

so now that you are sober you still want me?

It's hurrah*.

Are you an alcoholic? Or do you just mean you're going to stop drinking socially etc. because you happen to be joining this yoga program for unrelated reasons?

Either way - good luck.

ETA: oops - didn't notice OP saying she can't drink in moderation.

Good luck. You will lose so much weight and have a healthier body as a result. Booze is empty calories and makes you eat when you are tipsy. That and you'll save money, have more energy and sleep better. It's the right thing to do.

Well that certainly explains some of your posts. But good luck, Nothing better than going through life straight

Hurray is a real word. Hopefully OP will have more hurrays and less "Oh crap I did what now?" going forward.

I eat less when I drink, not more, but maybe I am the exception.

I don't know what grammar rock is, and youtube is blocked on this connection I'm using at the moment. I'll look at it later.

Contradict me again and I'll punch your buttocks.

(ie. kick your ass; you see how both make sense but the former would most likely have been used in error?)

i went back and read the title and i agree with you.

Yes Captain Condescension I see it clearly now. I also think "punch your buttocks" has more flair.

Kandykornhead said: Yes Captain Condescension I see it clearly now. I also think "punch your buttocks" has more flair.Hah! No condescension intended. I'd rather some idiot (like me) point out an error I'm making on the internet, than go through life using a phrase incorrectly.

A coworker of mine constantly says 'I can't phantom..." He means to say 'fathom;. He's a good work friend of mine, so I once mentioned it to him when no one was around, but he continues to use it. It's a shame because when he does, the circle of people he's talking to give each other an odd look (at his expense).

Thank you. Not an alcoholic, but I've realized that it will lead to that if I continue on that path.

HEY!

Thank you! and thank you to everyone else too! Unless you would like me to continue to reply to every post?

JackieJ828 said: Thank you! and thank you to everyone else too! Unless you would like me to continue to reply to every post? No, now that you already got around to mine.

Btw - don't forget to post before and after pics.

And during (yoga classes).

LostConsumer said: I realize that hurray is a real word. I just informed the OP of the more common phrase I believe she intended to use.I thought she meant hurrah also, at least that is how it would fit best in the statement. Either way, if she wants it to be her LAST, I'm hoping it will happen.

Since I don't drink alcohol (my father is alcoholic), I try just about any non-alcoholic drink. It helps me not miss the alcohol.

So stay strong. It may be tough now, but it will get easier with time.

"Huzzah!" In Hebrew means something like congrats, So Huzzah! Jackie

Congratulations on your resolve!
