Hmmm I always thought that we are stirifing for gender equality? So if we are not strifing for equality here why are we strifing for equality on different aspects of our lives?

That was an invalid and illogical response - Assuming that this is not rape (if this is rape then the original question will be void - Instead of worrying for child support, we should be worrying about putting the SOB behind bars - and then yes castrate the guy)
Anyway assuming that this was not due to rape, the sexual encounter was consentual and both party wanted it to happen - If they both wanted it to happen, she has no rights to demand anything from the guy.
Think about it this way, if 2 guys step up into a boxing match, the one who gets knocked out cannot sue the guy who knocked him out for beating the crap out of him.

i see your point, and i don't completely agree w/ the laws on child support. but, do you really think a man should have NO responsibility?

It's her body the baby is in so she gets to decide, The End
i see your point, and i don't completely agree w/ the laws on child support. Then the guy should get a vasectomy, Otherwise you have to know anytime you have sex there is a chance of a child. Guy gets off easy just having to pay some child support

Thank you.

I think the a man should be responsible for the action he did. What intrigued me was not the notion of taking hands off approach; rather it was the notion that we strife for equality in some subject yet demand advantages on other subject.

Not exactly fair and/or equal isn't it? Well really the kid gets the say which is to live. Since the kid is a parasite on the moms health our laws allow the mom to kill her kid. It is a rish and But in reality the kid has a say that says it wants to live. The dad is no longer physically having demands put upon him during pregnancy. So biologically the guy gets less say at that point.
NO, a choice to be a parent is decided only on the mother. She decides if she wants to have child or get abortion in case she doesn't want to be pregnant. The father has no choice though it took 2 to tango, only 1 has any rights at all. If the father wanted the baby even if the mother wants to abort, still has no paternal rights.
Only thing that is equal is nothing at all. it seems it is one sided. :rolls eyes:

i think you mean "strive". so, you think you can tell a woman what to do with her body? i don't understand what you are trying to say.
btw: sorry if i misled you, but i think that a man SHOULD pay for support if is the biological father. i think the woman decides she does not want the man to see the child or be a part of his/her life then she should not be allowed to get support payments. (it gets complicated.)
