It may seem petty to some of you but today July 8th 2009 will be a date that I will not forget. I was overweight most of my life and for the VERY first time ever I performed my very first ever pull up. Ive truely been busting my ass daily in the gym and have lost a considerable amount of weight.
Is everyone ready for the big weight loss secret? Here it is. I'm FINALLY going to tell everyone...
Hard work, watch what you eat and dedication.
I never regret eating heathly but almost always regret eating unheatly.
I know it's just a single pull up but I feel absoutely fantastic because of it.
yaijic said: almost always regret eating unheatly Lately i've been the same. I go out about once every 2-3 weeks now.. and have reduced drinking soda. My coworker eats out almost everyday.. and drinks soda everyday.. and then goes to gym everyday. Not at all a good cycle. Complains about leg pain and back pain everyday.. and he's 28! I am a little overweight according to my BMI.. and at beginning of summer I decided to decrease atleast 10 lbs by September 1st. In past 4 weeks, I have lost 3 lbs through just eating right and pushups/crunches. I started swimming yesterday which is more calorie consuming than just 30 pushups/crunches so it's a good thing. I read somewhere that running and swimming are the two best exercises.
Gotta set a goal for weight loss and like you said.. gotta work for it.

I'm a big fan of eliptical/precor machines - it's easier on the joints than a treadmill, and burns more calories, if I can trust the readout.
Went swimming yesterday for first time in like a year. I was dead tired in like 12-15 minutes. I'm sure having very mild asthma also had to do something with it.. swimming abuses lungs.
One thing i love about swimming is that you dont sweat doing it

You should try the Precor AMT machine. I just joined a gym and have started using one and all I can say is OUCH! Much, much harder than anything else including treadmill, elliptical, whatever. The first time I was on it I went for about 5 minutes.
Congrats OP! I wish I could do a pull up, even just one. When I try I just hang there like a dead cow.
And you are right. The only way to lose weight is to get off your butt and workout. Not by fad no carb diets, South Beach, etc.
I've lost over 60 lbs over the last year and a half, but sadly gained back about 15 lbs due to the steroids my doctor put me on following my shoulder surgery. I need to get off my ass and start losing that 15 lbs again, and to keep losing further. It's one hell of a good feeling getting back into old clothes you couldn't fit in, and buying new ones that fit isn't it?
