for those with the snobby stereotypes, suck on this!

for those with the snobby stereotypes, suck on this!People are rude in Alabama? I don't give a rats ass. I wasn't saying Kmart is better than WalMart. You haven't been to the WalMart in my area. It's dirty, crowded, and ghetto like a Kmart. The Super Kmart is nice and clean but still ghetto though. You know, WalMart snobs shouldn't be talking about "snobby stereotypes" either.
A Wally's opened up right next to a struggling Kmart here, and the Kmart has been on life support ever since, but refuses to shut its doors. Rumors say the Wa1mart is waiting patiently for the Kmart to close so they can put a Sams on the property.
The store has been there close to 30 years (guessing) and has never been remodeled. It looks ghetto.

I've never been into a Kmart that didn't have all original flooring/shelves/etc. Looks horrible, and I feel gross being in one.
I agree. If I'm looking for something in particular, I'll tell myself that maybe Kmart will have it. Then when I get disgusted and leave the store, I remember why I don't venture in there more than once a year. You'd think I'd learn.

You have to go up to LA to find a SuperK. A lot of Kmarts closed up there so what's the big deal if they close 3 in all of Michigan? Boo-to-the-frickin-hoo.
I went to one of their stores. It was in a mall that is in danger of being condemed. The employees there were dressed in whatever... sports jerseys, hoodies with writing etc. You couldn't tell who worked there. The fixtures and general condition of the store was trashy looking.
Needless to say I did not like shopping there.
I know there are good people who work there like there will be anywheres, but it was clear Kmart did not care much about its appearance. Managers weren't enforcing any dress code and no money had been spent on anything there in a long time. The cash registers were as ancient as the dinosaurs. etc. etc.

Retail is very competitive - margins are slim.
That's why a well-organized & controlled company like Wal-Mart_ survives while others fail.

Target is where you'll find the cleanliness and organization that makes a store worth a visit!

ITA agree about Target being a nicer place to shop and it's easier to find things there. We only go to WMT to buy specific products that we know are going to be cheaper there - we get in and out ASAP.
Plus, TGT has been a pretty decent stock .
The two firms have very different approaches, and I think there is room for both strategies.

Every time I go in a K-Mart, it's like a step back to the 60's/70's. Everything looks old and worn, and the isles are small/cramped.
One of the things I think is awesome about Target is that they put a lot of money into refreshing their stores - they recently completely remodeled one of the stores near me (expanded electronics and food, especially frozen and dairy, added a Starbucks, ect) and are in the process of doing the same for the store near me. Neither store looked that bad before they started remodeling, either.

That and the 12 yr olds working 7 days a week so the Walton relatives can be billionaires, and when that isnt enough they cheat their US employees out of breaks and unpaid time.

I was tipped off by a coworker a few weeks ago though and snagged a martha stewart enameled cast iron dutch oven (le creuset knock off) for 14 bucks. made a mean ass coq au vin with it.

Where's the list. need the list. Can't provide list info without the LIST! A list or link or it isn't true.
I hope not. I need to swap out a couple Craftsman tools that broke.
Maybe they could sell the tool division to MAC, SNAP ON or some other reputable tool company. I bought a craftsman lawnmower, it was a piece of crap. The tools seem to be the exception.
I was at Kmart several times this year, and the store was so desolate that it almost felt like I was rummaging for survival goods in some kind of post-apocalyptic film. It's a little strange being one of the only customers in a store that large at 6:00 PM. There would only be one checkout lane open, and no waiting. The Wal-Mart down the street is packed for most of the day. You have to park a mile away and walk to the store like you're visiting a theme park or something. I don't usually shop at Wal-Mart during peak hours, but even at 1:00 or 2:00 AM it has a lot more customers than Kmart has in the middle of the day. I'm shocked that they've been able to keep the stores open this long. That Kmart is in a good location too. It's at a major intersection, across the street from a shopping mall. It had previously been a Venture store.
