Does anyone have a fridge that has French doors and does not have ice/water in the door? I am wondering where you get ice if you don't have the ice in the door. Our fridge just went out and I am trying to shop on-line before I go looking in the morning.

I have Freedom doors. I can choose to use the ice cube tray or a 10 pound bag of crushed ice from the supermarket.

What are freedom doors (is that like freedom fries v. french fries?) and where is the ice cube tray? If there's no ice and water in the door do you get an ice maker in the bottom at all?

It's an older model. The entire left side is the freezer section. The ice cube tray goes in there.

Our's has french doors and a freezer drawer at the bottom. The water comes from the on the inside of the fridge, and it has a ice maker in the freezer. It's a samsung something or other.

Thanks. Anyone want to give any input on features I should look for before I'm off shopping this morning? I do want a french door model.

Glass shelves with rims to catch spills.

Adjustable shelves so you can put in really large items. Cranks so you don't have to remove the shelves but can just crank them up or down.

Improved interior lighting.

You might stop by the library and read the Consumer Reports report on refrigerators.

Isnt' side by side the version with 2 doors (freezer on the left, fridge on the right)

Where French Door models are 2 Upper doors on top (left and right) for Fridge and 1 Door/Drawer on the bottom for the freezer?

We just did a major kitchen remodel in September and purchased all new appliances. We bought a GE French door, bottom freezer, no ice/water dispenser in the door, with icemaker in the freezer-model GFSL6KEXALS-17.65 cf refrig/8.17cf freezer.
They were not easy to find and sales reps continually were trying to talk us out of them. We found it on clearance at H/D with a two year warranty. We originally were going to go with the same thing by Whirlpool but the GE was $900 less.

Shouldn't that be a Dutch French Door then?

An installer from American Samoa keep the warranty valid also.

A fridge with French doors would smell bad and refuse to open its doors for American owners.
