Even though the Phillies technically lost, I declare last night a victory for their side. |

They should be winning this every year considering their payroll is more than twice MLB average and 50 million more than the nearest team. |

there goes that dumb argument... Don't you see though, that is what makes it funny. They should be winning every year and yet they don't. As a Yankee fan I would be embarrassed that my team spends so much more money than everyone else (a third more then the nearest team), yet most years are lucky to make it to the playoffs at all. Just so you don't think I am biased, I laugh my ass off at the Mets and Redsox for this same reason. |

would your argument be the same during the first 20 world series wins before the steinbreners owned the franchise? keep in mind the new york yankee logo is one of the most recognizable brands in the world- people buy the memorabilia/ fan gear and have never even set foot in the U.S- that is our bankroll. your yankee hate is funny though... a texan pitched a great game (with a peruvian closing it), a puerto rican catching and a japanese guy was his own homerun factory. yo, this is america's team |

Are you referring to me? I hate the fact that baseball has no true salary cap, and it results in teams in big markets like New York and Boston having such an advantage over the rest of the league. The fans then come and talk shit saying how much better their team is than everyone else...all I am pointing out is that they better damn well be considering the payroll disparity. I don't know why this offends you, it is a simple fact. The Yankees did this year exactly what they should be doing every year as long as they are spending 50 million more than the nearest team. I don't think they deserve a particularly large amount of credit for that. |

I don't think they deserve a particularly large amount of credit for that. Boston is the fourth highest payroll, and hadn't won a series in 86 years prior to 2004. Not fair to lump them in there. They've had a good runs in a couple of recent years, but any Boston fan who sounds off like that clearly hasn't been one for long. The two other teams whose payroll was higher than Boston's? Cubs and Mets. |

not referring to you at all. "your" is meant to be general in both instances. i agree, but the bigger and more popular the city/ region, the bigger the budgets. you know that. boston fans do the same thing when it comes to smack talk, angels too. royals are a bit more humble and well tampa bay was a fluke year just like the marlins had. that's a home town thing bud. whoever your team is, you probably do the same- its just when ny does, it's louder. when i say it's americas team, we do pool players from more countries in the world than any other in mlb. |

Ya, BFD, the Yankees win every year. more importantly, we just moved and I can't get Versus network on TV here. This sucks because I gotta pay extra to watch hockey. |

I don't know why this offends you, it is a simple fact. Just look at Cleveland. The last two AL Cy Young award winners were Indians (CC Sabathia and Cliff Lee...., the WS game 1 starters), but Cleveland had to trade them both away because we couldn't afford to pay them. Major market teams are able to stack the deck with their payrolls. MLB has a large number of "feeder" teams that are in the majors in name only. |
