Hypothroidism is diagnosed via a blood test for thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). The thyroid is located in the neck, just below the Adam's apple and the collarbone.
You may be prescribed an artificial thyroid hormone such as Synthroid or levothyroxine (generic). If so, you'd have to take regular blood tests to validate the dosage.

If i had to name a few, i would call it Wally... no idea why, but it seems like that is a good name for a few.
