Hi folks, i bought an EDTV a long time ago before the conversion to DTV. My brother just bought a Sony Bravia LCD TV and when he hooked it up to his limited comcast cable TV, he is able to pull in 137 channels both digital and analog. Is it possible for my old EDTV to do this? Right now, i'm on limited cable with 17 channels. What is/are the required equipment(s) to buy?

thanks

BILLTV is superior to EDTV.

/I have no idea, can you tell?

i thought DAVETV was best!

i have no idea what you are talking about

Simply put, i want to make my plasma Enhanced Definition TV to be able to pull those channels in like my brother's Sony LCD TV. I'm sure there are equipments to buy but dont know what to buy.

DTV only effects OTA broadcasts. Your brother is probably stealing his neighbors cable TV. I highly suggest you take this route.

I like how you assumed things. I guess this works well for you in your life.

Your "Enhanced Definition" TV most likely does not have a digital tuner like your brother's Sony. You won't get any digital channels without a digital cable box from your cable provider.

This is probably it. Thanks!

Now gotta find a tuner box and try it.

Thanks again.

I like how you assume I don't know what I am talking about. I guess not listening to people who know what they are talking about works well for you in your life.

Are you absolutely 100% sure you and your brother are on the same cable plan? It sounds like to me you are on limited and he is on basic (or stealing cable from the neighbors). If he has a converter box from the cable company (not the same as a digital tuner) and you do not, he may be picking up some digital channels that you are not, but that would just double the number of channels to 34 (or less). Comcast is still providing almost all of their channels in analog, although they do plan to eventually move away from this.

I got a KWORLD TV Tuner with ATSC/ClearQAM and now i'm able to pull 137 channels from comcast and YES he is on limited cable, NOT basic or economy. assuming him stealing cable and suggesting me to an illegal act is just an ass of an assumption.

Hate to break it to you, but you are both now stealing for Comcast. You are paying for 17 channels and receiving 137 Channels. This is obviously an error by Comcast, and you being the conscientious person you are who is completely offended by the suggestion of stealing cable, I am sure you will report it to Comcast ASAP.

BTW I hate Comcast and say you should continue to steal from them (I got cable for years from them for free due to one of their mistakes). Don't give me this holier than thou crap though you seem to be spitting off.

pyeed: What area of the country are you in OP, I want to know if I can get in on this action.

LOL, I actually called Comcast customer service and ask about why some newer TVs can get more channels. they said that those channel WILL eventually get encrypted, it just takes time as they are trying to sort out all the problems at hand. I even ask them is it illegal or will i get arrested for doing this. They said NO.

You should report me, my zip code is 98106 and my last four phone # is 1401. Call Comcast now! HAHAHA
