I broke down and bought it, and absolutely LOVE it. Feels like classic Mario. The screen scrolls from left to right instead of the total 3D affect of Mario64 and Galaxy.
I also picked it up on Friday night from COSTCO. I had been resisting picking it up because we don't need more video games. Picked up on Friday night and stayed up late playing it. It was really fun!

going to play it again tonight.... I just purchased 2 new controlers with nunchucks on eBay for 43.00 (we were going to pay 45$ at target and wife did not think I could get them cheaper on eBay.. the fool!
