Might as well. Its not like you can say no to a return...

Do you have to accept a return no matter what or only if the item is defective?

There is so much paranoia over all of this....
Be glad you got the 20% for as long as you did.
No returns offered here.

You do not have to ship within one business day, you only need to supply a tracking number within one business day and any number will do.

I prepare the shipping label within 1 business day and ship within 3 days.

I'll do the label in 1 day. I think just supplying any number could annoy buyers.

The Best Sellers will

Do label and ship the same or next day.....

I am one of those....
And I include a packing slip, never a complaint on that.
But when I buy and do not get one, that does conger up a complaint..

Appropriate.

How about the 14-day return policy? Is it going to open a flood gate of return abuse?

Curious are there really people who do not ship within 1 biz day?

Actually yes if it's something difficult to pack and ship like bulky and heavy item.

Can you offer 14-day return only on "low risk" items and get 20% off FVF on those items or you must offer return on ALL items to get 20% off FVF on everything?

Offering 14 day returns shouldn't really affect any seller. If you offered no return and a buyer files a 'Not as described' case, you were going to have to accept the return anyway. You will get a few more returns, now that buyers know of the 14 days, but I don't think its significant. Plus, even before the 14 day thing, if you want to keep your Top Rated Seller, you kind of had to accept the return anyway, so as not to risk the bad feedback and lost the TRS anyway.

As for the 1 day shipping, well, two problems. About 5% of my items are very low value and sent without tracking. So I have the choice of either sending with tracking, uploading a fake tracking #, or not selling them anymore. Since they are low profit items, #3 may be the best choice for me.

The only issue I have is that eBay keeps time in Pacific time. I am east coast. So if someone buys an item at 2:59am Monday morning my time, that is still Sunday Pacific time, so I am required to ship on Monday. That doesn't really seem fair to me. If one person buys an item Monday morning, I can get it packed and ready before I have to leave for work. If more than one do, its going to be touch.

If a buyer files a 'Not as described' case, you are going to have to accept a return regardless of what you write 'NO RETURNS' 'AS IS', or anything else. eBay is buyer friendly (and with good reason).

Can you get into trouble if you supply a fake tracking number?

I have an idea...just copy and paste the listing item number into the tracking field. I don't think eBay checks.

I'm not sure many would agree with this statement. They would agree that buyers can really hold a seller over a barrel.

I think you are supposed to also offer a 1 day shipping option on top of "uploading" tracking information within 24 business hours.

Which part are you disagreeing (that it is buyer friendly or that its for a good reason), and why? As both a buyer and a seller, I know I'm more likely to have eBay on my side in any dispute when I'm the buyer.

No. I have tried complaining to eBay about sellers who do this, but eBay does not care.

Someone needs to write a little app that automatically enters a fake tracking number as soon as the sale occurs, but leaves the item in the To Be Shipped state

I second this

Sounds like BradMajors could neg you. Don't forget the packing slip too or knowitall will neg you.

I think I'm staying away from fake numbers and just printing the label even if I don't mail it that day.

So any idea on this? Is it all or nothing, i.e. offer 14-day return across the board and get 20% off FVF across the board or nothing? Or you can selectively offer 14-day return and get 20% off FVF on those items only?

Starting June 1, only those listings from Top-rated sellers that include 1-day handling and a 14-day or longer return policy with a money-back option will qualify for the greatest average boost in Best Match and 20% final value fee discount.

BS. Very seldom do I sell "as is" items, but when I do, I never say something like "cannot be tested", or "might work", or anything similar that may lead e.Bay to rule in a buyer's favor. I've had 2 or 3 SNAD attempts for such items over the years, and I won every single one of them. When my description says: not working, for parts, no returns, buyers cannot claim that the item is not working. Plenty of photos help too.

The big mistake many sellers of AS IS items make is that they stealthily suggest that the item might be working hoping to get a better price. Do this often enough, and you'll get an a*****e buyer who will claim SNAD and e.Bay/PP will gleefully oblige, unless, of course, you're a mega-seller who gets special treatment from the Ho.
