I have had at least 7 for laptops....
Money was taken back for about 3 weeks....then returned.
The last took the longest, just over 4 weeks.

I didn't use PP shipping but I did add the tracking number to eBay after shipping. Paypal is giving me the usually 4 options on an automated form (provide tracking, provide other proof, provide proof of existing refund, or accept liability). I've filled these out several times before, usually just giving the tracking number. I'm thinking of providing other proof though. Basically I would fax in a copy of the shipping label showing correct address, an explanation of where the FedEx facility is, and a printout of the signature confirmation (which is the same as the buyers name).

Provide a simple tracking number or an elaborate fax?

RE:
Today, July 7th I get notified by paypal that there is a chargeback on the full amount for being an unauthorized transaction

Ooops, I did not see that at first look.
Not sure if they even consider a fax unless they ask for it....
The zip delivered at may be a real big issue.
You may get help on the eBay Paypal forum or if you are a power seller on that forum.
There is a johnny come lately Paypal employee who chimes in on the forums but usually just gives a double talk answer or only answers silly questions.

Come to think of it......
I would think, that if delivered at the local addy of the FedEx location it would be the same as if delivered at the Paypal provided address.
In the Paypal response process you can answer online and also fax them info. though I never have.

I called Paypal, they talked to chargeback department who requested that I fax in a copy of the label to verify I sent ti to the correct address. I did and they released the hold. All good.

Help someone. Transaction reversal on the 1st of August. I shipped to an unconfirmed paypal address. My item was eligible for paypal coverage. Sent my signature confirmation as well as positive feedback info from buyer, and whatever else I had within 2 days of finding out. Paypal closed the case on the 9th and i had no idea I only had 10 days to appeal. couldn't figure out how to appeal or what to do next. Am I SOL or is there some other way to resolve this? I shipped 4 days after receiving payment btw.

Was it delivered to the zip code of the buyers shown on the Paypal payment details.
Was the signature viewable online.

rated:

yes it was shipped to the address and zipcode given to me at the paypal screen. USPS sent me a signature confirmation pdf of the signed receipt once the package was delivered. I included this in the claim as a PDF when the investigation was going on, but it was closed with the transaction reversed with little to no explanation.

Pretty disheartening stuff...I've had maybe 200 flawless transactions and this bad apple of a sale is souring me on the whole eBay/paypal experience.

rated:

You may want to contact PayPal directly by phone on this one for clarification on why the reversal was granted, if that is not clear from the information you have already been supplied by PayPal, if you responded within the requested time frame and followed the SPP to the letter.

rated:

Hi all, How do I get "proof of delivery" with USPS? Which option do I choose?

rated:

If the total transaction amount was under $250, Delivery Confirmation will work. If the total transaction amount is $250+, you'll need a signature on delivery, so Signature Confirmation works. There are other options but these in general are the most common and cost-effective.

Note that this is for domestic delivery, and both options are not available on every kind of mail (for example Delivery Confirmation cannot be purchased for a First Class Letter).

Sold a macbook pro for close to $2000, the buyer filled a chargeback with his credit card company.

Now..the money of a different buyers item is frozen in my account. I shipped the Macbook Pro with UPS and Have signature confirmation.

I even called the guy he admitted to the Scam, that he even got the Macbook Pro and still filled a chargeback, what a low life.

Help, I sold some used wheels (with tons of photos, full disclosure of condition, etc.) and in my posting details, I included some technical specs about the wheels that I got from the manufacturer and various other online sources regarding its construction (3-piece wheel). It turns out the manufacturer's info is wrong (they are 2-piece). Materially they are exactly as advertised (brand, model, size, condition, etc.) but I was wrong on a technical detail - will I lose a SNAD dispute?

AFAIK
Sellers always lose them.
Ask on the eBay forums.

What if it's not on eBay? Just a Paypal transaction.. From bank account (not CC) to Paypal account.

I'm WAS a new seller on eBay who was quickly scammed (& discouraged) by a buyer claiming SNAD, which I believe is a case of 'buyer's remorse', asking for a refund. Although my listings all state 'no refunds' and 'no returns'... we all know it matters NONE if you use PP =(
Anyway, it's simply another example of buyer protection & seller screwed b/c now, two whole months later, the case was finally determined in the favor of the buyer. They were told to return the item and I was told that, upon receipt of the return, eBay would be refunding the liar... saying I could 'work out payment arrangements' w/eBay. Soooooo my question is, "What if I do not answer the door or pick up the package?" or "What if I refuse to accept it?"... will the buyer still get their money back? Will I still be responsible for the costs? I'm guessing the package would be returned POSTAGE DUE to the buyer, which is fine by me if I'm not being charged or they aren't getting the money back!
Needles to say, I am no longer selling on eBay & now I'm angry b/c they waited two months to tell me they believe the liar, I mean buyer!!!!

rated:

If you refuse the package, and the tracking reflects the refusal, then it gets returned to the buyer and he still gets his refund. So, you probably don't want to refuse it.

You are better off accepting the package, otherwise, you will lose the item, and the money.

Why are you fighting so hard not to take the item back? Is there something that would prevent you from selling it again?

I would have told the buyer that you will make an exception and will accept the return, as long as they pay return shipping, and you will refund the original purchase price minus original shipping).

A lot of people forget that there are 2 rules in retail.

1) Customer is always right.
2) If customer is wrong, look up rule number 1.

I understand your frustration, but that is part of the "game"

One thing to watch out for is them sending an empty package with tracking numbers, or sending similar item but broken. I have had this happen to me, but I always record serial numbers of electronics I sell, which I include on their invoice.

Trying to fight an empty package with paypal will be futile, which a scammer knows.

I have been selling on eBay for 10 years now and have heard it all. What i started doing about 8 months ago is copy buyers blacklist to my eBay blocked buyers list. You can actually find this list of bad buyers on the net. It is a long list but acceptable by eBay. I also check all buyers user id's on toolhaus.org before i ship items to make sure the buyers is not one of those who posts too many negative feedbacks, otherwise i make sure to package well and i take pictures of the item and package before shipping with confirmation or signature required. This has saved me hassle at least 3 times within the last 8 months. Also, I have set up my eBay preference to only post positive feedback if i receive one. This way if i get a neg, i will post negative/positive to buyer which i didn't know up until recently. For example my feedback would start with word negative so this buyer's id would automatically be picked up and showed by toolhaus when doing a search. Example: "Negative. Buyer trying to weasel a partial refund" even though it is positive feedback, it will be picked up by toolhaus as negative. Lots of sellers are adding bad buyers list to their blocked list now. This is one work around the stupid eBay policies.

A negative comment with a positive rating is pretty easily removed if the other party requests it. Not really such a fabulous idea.

Need some help. Sold a item for 2000.00 was listed working 100% sold as is. Item was listed pick up only. Buyer contacted me that they would get shipper to pick up package I agreed to that and they made purchase. They been having problems with machine since they got it. I don't know if it was damaged during shipping or when when they set it up they damaged something. I used machine and never had problems. I don't know how to repair machine so had them and had them contact the company that makes them and are very helpful over the phone. Spoke to customer last week and they had to order a part for 18.00 and was going to let me know after that. I just got a eBay email staying item is not as described and wants 2000.00 plus the shipping. She stated that the part didn't fix problem and now needs 150.00 part. I would be willing to refund that amount but I'm not sure they know what there doing and might be damaging the machine more than fixing it. What are my option with this case? What's the best way to reply to there request for a full refund and shipping? Have over 1000 sales on eBay 100% feedback. I believe they have buyer's remorse also PayPal is holding funds but I only had 400.00 in account so I have a negative balance with Paypal. How long before they take from my credit card or bank account?

Doesn't paypal also give options for resolution?

I believe one of the options is to have them ship it back to you, on their dime. Since they are sking for you to pay for the new part, ask them to send the old and new parts with the machine. Once you receive the item from them, cross check serial numbers to make sure the machine they sent to you is the machine you originally sold them.

There is no possibility to tell PP you did not get the same item back....
While you can can tell them that, something sent back with DC and the buyer is refunded.

I always record serial numbers of items I sell, if they have them.

On a few occasions I had buyers contact me complaining that "item was DOA" to which I would reply to them and offer to accept it, "as an exception" after I verify that it is such and such serial number, even if the listing stated that no returns were allowed. They never ship it, nor complain to paypal.

My point was that if you tell PP the serial numbers do not match...
That would not let you win the case.
The numbers have no bearing on the complaint.

Depends where it's going, some countries scan stuff properly, some don't, some do sometimes. Some don't even get delivery on EMI (Greece, India, Turkey, Dagestan, I'm sure I've noticed others).

If you're sending it Western Europe, Japan, Singapore, Australia/NZ, Canada, I think you're OK.

The buyer left me positive feedback. "Fast shipping. A+++++".

1) It is over 45 days. I thought that was the limit to file a claim.
2) Did I email the card PIN. Yes.
3) Did I mail it. No.
4) The buyer emailed in December and stated - Can you email pin number if I buy it? and I don't need the real card. Please Email pin number for me. Thanks in advance. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

If you didn't ship it, you are most likely screwed. You did not follow Paypal terms for protection, and the buyer knew about it.

You may be able to dispute with the credit card, since you have the feedback and his e-mails. But, you will have to fight them on your own.

I think it has been mentioned in this thread that there is virtually no limit to when a buyer may file a chargeback with their credit card company. That depends totally on the credit card company. The 45 day limit is for Paypal's dispute processes.

Argh. New buyer. "I forgot to add my apartment number to the address, can you add that for me?"

To double-check...PayPal SPP checks delivery on packages with USPS DC based on ZIP, correct? So I can just print off the label, write in the apt # and I'm set?

Refunding payments is a complete pain in the neck because as far as I have found, once the refund goes through the buyer is unable to go through the checkout process again. At least, this was the case about a year ago. Has it changed in the interim?

Correct on SPP checking based on zip code. I think you can actually go in and edit the address and add the apartment number without any problems.

Refunding is still a pain. Buyer can't check out once you refund.
