How do you do signature confirmation if you use UPS shipping through PayPal. I don't see any options for it. Seems kinda odd that PayPal would provide UPS shipping for eBay and expect you to use signature confirmation for packages over $250, yet don't provide you with an option to do signature confirmation when printing out the label.
I got UPS to send me a roll of those Signature Required stickers, but they don't have any kind of barcode on them, so I don't know if those will work or not...
**Updated 11/4**
Looks like PayPal finally updated their site to add signature confirmation for UPS packages. It's about friggin' time!

Ha! Great question! DO you actually think eBay will make it easy for you? eBay and Paypal - BROTHERS! Imagine how many sellers who ship via UPS GROUND do not realize that their packages can be left on the porch, in the backyard.. and when tracked online.. in the SIGNATURE Section it will only state: FRONT DOOR ...etc..amazing isn't it..
I am sure many Sellers do not realize when shipping something via UPS GROUND.. it is in the DRIVER's descretion whether or not to leave a package without an actual signature...
how the opportunity to screw over legitimate sellers are many.
Well, isn't this just luvly?? I just talked to someone from PayPal's Dispute Resolution Center on the phone and when I told her my problem, she was like "Uhh, yeah I don't think you can do that. Let me check for you." She puts me on hold for another 3 minutes, than comes back and says "Yeah, you can't do signature confirmation with UPS through PayPal and that you'll have to take it to a UPS center."
So I responded with "What's the point in having UPS shipping through PayPal if you don't even provide signature confirmation on shipments to aid the seller with Seller Protection. No signature confirmation = YOU LOSE EVERY TIME." And then I asked as to why does USPS offer signature confirmation through PayPal while UPS doesn't? She said a bunch of BS then said that she was sorry and that she would "look into it"
What a bunch of losers

UPS only requires a Signature from Business, any package sent to business address must have signature , no ifs, no buts, any package sent to private home can get a signature if signature service is required, but then that extra. If the driver is in a zone that has lots of theft or lost packages , he will most likely get the signature.

That's not the point though. The point is that PayPal doesn't even provide an option to have signature confirmation on a package. If you're sending a UPS ground package to a residential address, you're screwed.
I have had a couple of shipments in the past that were left at the door and the recipient claimed he never received it. Both times UPS paid off on my claim w/o any problems. Don't know if they still are as cooperative.
I just signed up for a regular online account online and I can do signature confirmation with it. It's pitiful that PayPal UPS shipping doesn't offer the same option

Again, you make an excellent point! Truly does not make sense... like I told you maybe it is on purpose so that Sellers who do not realize this and do not bother to know the rules of the Seller's Paypal Protection Policies... will automatically LOSE, just like you said.
Just think.. Sellers on eBay is what makes eBay as RICH as they are .... well, they get paid whether or not Sellers get screwed over.

I just wanted to post a warn on the forum about the same thing then find this thread...
My story: Recently I used paypal to ship an eBay auction package with UPS - fully insured more than $500 and wrote clearly on the box "signature required". Today UPS delivered the package to the buyer's front door. I couldn't contact buyer/receiver to confirm his receipt, so I called UPS and got a stubborn answer that THE PACKAGE WAS SHIPPED WITHOUT SIGNATURE REQUIREMENT SO ...!!! Luckily right after the phone call I reached the buyer and confirmed his receipt.
Whom I should blame/curse??? Defintely NOT UPS, but the devil PAYPAL!!!
I respect those big animals like Staples, Citibank, AMEX, even MS, but NOT eBay/paypal - the 2 worst bastard twins are the ONLY 2 I have to stay with.
Of course I will never use paypal to ship UPS from now on.

Yeah, the only way a UPS driver will get a signature is if the package was shipped with that option. Writing signature required won't do any good. Signatures cost money to residential addresses but are free to business addresses. Since Paypal doesn't offer "signature required" shipper beware...

I still don't understand that whole thing. How hard could it be for them to offer Signature Confirmation for UPS shipments? All they need is to add another drop down menu box. It would take their coders all of 5 mins to add.
But then again, any way to screw the shipper is good in the eyes of PayPal.

I am a newbie eBay seller, and don't know when paypal started supporting UPS shipping. But I believe paypal should have already received hundreds even thousands complaints/moans from eBay sellers about this matter since the very beginning! But they simply ignored it because they can earn dirty money from this!

That's not the point though. The point is that PayPal doesn't even provide an option to have signature confirmation on a package. If you're sending a UPS ground package to a residential address, you're screwed.
Thats not true , you can require signature for extra fee with ups..

YOU CAN NOT DO IT THROUGH UPS PAYPAL SHIPPING. YOU CAN ONLY DO IT THROUGH UPS.COM SHIPPING.
You show me an option PayPal's website that gives you the option to add signature confirmation when you ship a package via UPS.
There is no need to get sig for a less that $250 Paypal item.

PP offers UPS because they get a nice kickback, they charge you and they get less than daily pick up rate. If FedEx would have made a better offer they would be hawking them.
As an alternative, set up your own FedEx account, print out the label online (with signature confirmation), order some free sleeves from FedEx, drop off at your daily FedEx location at your workplace. Works for me.
BTW, you only need signature confirmation on items over $250 to be protected by PayPal.
