Think I'm gonna sell a Wii tonight - probably the same way I sold PS3: a BIN requiring immediate Pay Pal payment to end auction. Any recommendations for a price? I don't want much - I'm thinkin $299.99 + buy pays shipping.

I just listed a Wii for $1.00 with no reserve on a 1 day listing. This will be a good indication of what it is really worth.

I'm always too scared to list w/o a reserve. Also, I get too many bogus buyers ending my auction early - even with restriction for positive feedback, paypal, etc. It sux!

First one brought $307, next one brought $315, selling one more on Sunday.....we'll see how it goes

well considering you come out ahead without a reserve, what are you afraid of?

Hi, well I'm new to the eBay community, and trying to get tips here. I've sold about 7 Wii's so far and not planning on selling anymore.

Question is, how do you get away with all the fee's eBay and paypal hit you with? Is there an alternative? Right now, the profit margin on Wii's are not that great. I will use the tip for the next hot thing.

Well, I set myself up. I decided to list a Nintendo Wii auction on Jan 14th to end in 7 days on Jan 21st at 9am. No reserve, no gallery, no upgrades. Started bid at 9.99. I did this because I knew that Target was getting Wiis on the 21st to sell, so I would be OK. Well....come Jan 21st, the Target in my area did NOT get Wiis. I go to cancel my auction, and can't b/c it has less than 12 hours left. It was up to 280 at the time (this was around 6am Sunday). Well, all I could do was cancel bids, and hope nobody bids on it. I go to eat some breakfast, come back to check on it and it SHOT UP to $465 (wii console only), the guy already paid, and I was in deep doo-doo.

I could either lose fees and get a negative feeddback by refunding the guy his money, or try to find oen really fast. The latter did not work, as it was way too late. So I go on eBay, BUY a Wii for 330 and have it shipped to the guy! I made an EASYYYY 100 bucks! No work, no camping, 40 cent eBay fees+ 2.00 final value fee...sweet huh?

I truly think the Wiis have not dried up on eBay yet. People are still struggling to find one. I thought after the holidays they wouldn't be that hard to find, but I was wrong.

As far as buying/reselling. I am trying to come up with things to buy/resell after the Wii shortage finally dries up. Any thoughts.

What you did can lead to big problems. Hope it works out for you although I doubt it will. Let us know what happens in a week or two.

It seems like we have some people with Wii reselling experience.
I've been trying to figure out a way to optimize the return. Has anyone experimented with selling in a 1/3/5 day auctions instead of the normal 7 day?
Also, has anyone found that timing your auction aka ending your auction around lunchtime to help increase the return?
Thanks.

1 day auction ... set it to end either around lunchtime or around 8 eastern

DONT start it on the hour or halfhour, it seems like a good idea, but 20 other people do the same thing, so you're spiking supply for impulse buyers.

Prices seem to be on the increase. If you still have backstock, you should do well during the next week. Last week's influx of consoles have pretty much worked their way through the reseller marketplace. Closing prices seem to be up sharply in the last day or two.

alert mods

no shipments to stores last week + stores holding any shipments this week for 2/11 ad (most major stores). This will cause prices to increase through probably thursday/friday and prices will fall off significantly on sunday.

here's to hoping Amazon releases more again by at least thursday morning.

Don't forget to give this thread a chime if there is any on Amazon.

How does the Wii eBay market looking now?
Are they still selling well or is it a waste of time?

alert mods

Don't bother, you won't make any money. You will probably lose money...infact if you factor in the time..you do lose.

ebayfees, paypal fees, shipping. etc.. You are too late to the game.

alert mods

If you are going to make anything off the Wii you better be tax exempt. Profit for the Wii is going at around $40-$60 (if you are tax exempt). If not then it is probably around $20-$30 and then after eBay/paypal fees it is almost not worth it.
