Shipped item via Priority Mail Interntional.

Tracking? What tracking? That is what my post office said.
Great... Is there a separate tracking number or is it just the custom form?
As it looks like nothing has really changed... Except higher prices.

From what I've read on various boards, PMI-Flat Rate may not be tracked, but other PMI mailings will be. I can't find a reference for this on the USPS site, however, so it may be a misunderstanding of the insurance rules. It appears that the tracking will be done via the customs #. Reports from USPS experts are that the lack of delivery information will be grounds for filing an indemnity claim.

Until we see a few packages delivered internationally, it's hard to say just what we can expect as far as tracking.

Have we got word yet as to which forms of international shipping are going to meet PayPal's proof of delivery requirements? I don't want to force my buyers to use the whatever-the-new-version-of-GEM is if something cheaper will suffice.

What items sell well internationally? i have had a lot of luck with video games that the US gets first. Anybody have any insight? What items do they not have overseas that the US has?

Well, I have shipped 7 items internationally in the past 2 weeks. So far I have received tracking information on them all. They were all shipped PMI (not the flat rate box).

Concerning using USPS Express mail for orders over $250. I have shipped two orders via this method internationally. One to Japan; one to the Netherlands. In both cases I am able to track the package online and see that it was delivered. However, I am unable to get online proof of delivery. Instead I get a pdf letter emailed to me from USPS stating, "...we regret to inform you that we were unable to locate any delivery information in our records regarding your item number EB035807234US. If you require additional assistance, please take this receipt to your local Post Office or postal representative."

Has anybody else experienced this? My local postmaster says it is not possible to get the proof of delivery on international shipments but I contend that express mail specifically includes the signature as part of the service so why can't I see it online? I wonder what USPS would do if I filed an insurance claim.

So far, I have not been burnt by an INR dispute, but I definately want to do the right thing and get the signature for orders valued over $250.

For domestic shipping, Express mail has worked fine and I have been able to get the signature proof of delivery emailed to me after tracking the package online.

Hey Tlaxson, others-

I have read the info. and cannot seem to find an answer to a questions I have.

When shipping international via USPS. Do I have to include some type of invoice from (eBay/paypal/Amazon, etc) or is the customs form all I need.

Some employees at my local post office recently started saying I need to attach 2 copies of an invoice to the outside of international packages, but this changes depending on who is working....

You guys (gals) seem to know the facts! (Sorry if it's here somewhere, I could not locate the info.)

Thxs.

The IMM does say that you need to include an invoice for certain shipments to certain countries (section 123.42). It's always a good idea anyway, as if the label were to be damaged, the only way to determine where the contents should go is the invoice packed inside. It also is a very good thing to include for customs purposes. Let's say you sell some widget for $500, but fair market value is $1000. That invoice showing the price paid will help save your buyer a good chunk of the taxes that customs can impose. It also gives the impression of greater professionalism on your part, which is usually a good thing. IMO, better to assume it's required and include it with all shipments, than not include it and run into problems later.

As far as 2 copies vs one, it appears to depend on the country. Canadian shipments seem to need only one, but shipping to Mexico calls for two. Your best bet is to check the Country Conditions in the IMM to determine exactly what is needed.

If ever in doubt about what a postal clerk tells you, ask them to show you the applicable section of the DMM (domestic) or IMM (international). Every PO is required to have one of each on hand, and must show it to you when requested.

Are there any countries that you cannot send a flat rate box or envelope to? If so does anyone know what they are? Thanks in advance.

If you really want to know, you'd have to check the country conditions for all 150+ countries to which the USPS ships. Start here, and feel free to report back. I do know that Cuba cannot be sent PMI parcels (basically anything except envelopes - FRE and otherwise) and North Korea cannot be sent PMI stuff, but that's all PMI, not just FREs and FRBs.

Yeah...I'll get back to you on that...Why don't we all just take two countries a piece????

I'm preparing to sell a lot soon more and remember from experience that some countries didn't have flat rate envelopes listed (this was before international FR boxes). Maybe I just entered a weight over 4 lbs?

1st class registered or International Priority.

If they are over $250 you need to ship UPS/FedEx/DHL to get online viewable signature.

Is there any relatively 'safe' way to sell & ship to China? Value of eBay auction approx. $1000. Is it possible to use BidPay?

I know to Hong Kong I have used BidPay and shipped via USPS global express, without incident.

Question: I shipped by USPS Priority Mail International to Canada. All my shipments to Canada showed that they left the US border but there's not update on if it's being delivered. Is there a way to check this? I called USPS but they only said they'll look into it. USPS PMI is only 4-10 days and its been two weeks. Is there anything I should do? Or should I just ship express from now on?

Another question, I sold something and including shipping the value is over $250 via paypal. Should I just ship Express to be safe since there's suppose to be a signature? It's going to Canada.

You can check tracking at canadapost.ca.

I don't believe USPS EMI includes sigs.

You have to ship 3rd party (UPS ect) to get an online viewable signature international.
