I don't believe USPS EMI includes sigs.

I tried the canadapost but they display the same information as USPS (left border).

I would use UPS but I don't want buyers complaining about custom fees and returning the item.

I try to use paypal for all my shipping labels but I can't seem to pay for insurance through paypal when using USPS. Is this a problem with paypal?

Use 3rd party insurance.

Discount Shipping Insurance (DSI)

So Paypal doesn't offer insurance or is there a special way to buy it within paypal? Thanks!

Have you run rate quotes at each of the major carriers?

Yeah, none are that appealling. Like $15 through FedEx and UPS. Kind of stinks to pay in shipping what you are paying for the item.

"Registered Mail (USPS) will meet the PayPal SPP online trackable proof of delivery requirement for items under $250. RM does require a signature, but it is not displayed online and as such will not meet the signature requirement for items $250+. This means that as long as all other criteria are met, you can ship items under $250 to APO/FPO addresses with RM and be covered under the SPP. Thanks to Airtommy for confirming with PayPal that RM will work."

Hi,

Can anybody confirm that RM works or doesn't work with International FCM with regards to qualification for PP SPP.

I shipped a 2 lbs. package to Canada yesterday via PMI. I printed the postage through Paypal. Paypal gave me 4 copies of the form I needed. I went to the post office and stood in line because I had no idea what to do with the forms. The clerk game me an envelope to attach to the parcel, stamped all 4 forms, put 3 in the envelope and gave me one. That was it. I didn't do anything to the forms. Is that all I needed to do? She said if I had the envelopes next time and paid online, I could just drop them off like regular prepaid domestic mail.

Yes, just remember to sign the forms.

You can also use carrier pick-up.

Just as easy as domestic.

I didn't sign anything and she didn't mention signing anything.

I'm new, but thought I'd share my experience. USPS does not insure international packages. If trying to use DHI, UPS or FedEx, your customer will be charged some added fees upon arrival of the package. Only USPS has arrangements with the Canadian postal system to deliver to the door without added fees - (Duty, etc.)

I tend to give the buyer choices. They can pay for Global Express or Registered Mail - which has the proof of delivery/signature. Or, they can go with a less expensive option and no tracking. 100% of my customers have chosen the latter, and I've never (yet) lost a package.

With the recent changes in the USPS fees, you can ship 4 pounds and under at variable weight under First Class Mail International. If you decide to use Priority Mail or Express Mail, you can set up an account with the USPS, and complete all forms, shipping and custom, online - and pay for the postage at a discount (vs. the counter price).

If you want to ship with First Class International Service, you can search the USPS site for Shipping Assistant, and download this tool to assist with the costs, the forms, etc.

I hope this helps!

You can't get international signature using USPS; or at least it's not online viewable.

USPS does indeed insure most packages sent internationally if requested up to certain limits and to many but not all countries.. Some classes actually include some level of indemnity or insurance in the ship fee. International Priority parcels, for example, are indemnified against loss, damage, or missing contents up to a value depending on weight (or the actual value, whichever is lower). Additional insurance can be purchased. Express Mail International and Global Express Guaranteed carry up insurance for up to $100 (or the value of the item if lower than $100). First Class Mail International cannot be insured through the USPS; nor can Priority Mail International Flat Rate Envelopes. To determine what levels are insurances are available for any specific class and destination country, check the USPS Country Listings.

Priority Mail International does carry tracking now (except the Flat Rate Envelopes, which do not). Sigs are generally not available when shipping internationally, and when they are obtained will not ordinarily be viewable online.

You can also get the discount rate when using PayPal postage for Priority and Express international shipments. The forms can also be at USPS.com without an account with any online postage service. This is especially useful when shipping First Class International, which btw is not available for postage printing at usps.com. Only Express and Priority can have postage generated at that website. Other postage services, such as Endicia, can do First Class International postage.

Update to my first shipping to Canada.

I used PMI. Shipped 1/2, buyer said arrived on 1/12. Online DC shows the "electronically notified" message. Wonder how long it takes to update (if it is going to update).

A. International postal money orders (IPMO): These are great ways to get money with very low risk and cost to the seller. Unfortunately the list of countries that participates in the international PMO system is somewhat small (list of participating countries in section 372.1).

FYI...I tried this link and it is no longer working. Here is acorrected link: Link

I don't understand paypal shipping. I have a 6x9 bubble mailer to send someone a Nintendo game. The weight is 1.4 lbs. What USPS shipping method do I use to send it the cheapest? I tried package/thick envelope first class, but the weight is too much. I tried parcel post and the total came out to $6.50 or something. I know if I take this to the post office it will only cost around $1.50 or so to ship. I don't care when it gets there, just that it's cheap. Which is the best method to ship it?

This is a cart or a CD?

If it's a CD you can send it Media Mail should be about $2.50.

Nothing is $1.50 to ship until it a letter.
