I was told that they were doing "updates" to their servers. He did not know how long this would last.

Ditto here, called in they said all should be ok by 6am PST, its just past that so I expect any time now to be ok

Logging it without problems, but can't open transactions, which is pretty much the same thing Oh, well

getting the address from paypal email might work for you small time sellers but not for me
