Its been like this for a very long while. Some facilities are just more prone to tracking. My localish sort facility has been scanning for a while.
I think that they jsut reworded when items travel through a facility. Still some big holes as I know everqhere doesn't scan. Looks like most everything is showing that way now.

Yeah, I've noticed this on my shipments as well. Pretty awesome and about time.
Yeah, I always hit Additiona details link to get more info. I did notice something new though the other day. The tracking number actually showed the item was insured for < $200.

Im thinking this might be due to Intelligent Mail being rolled out.

on another note about USPS, they have really been cracking down on overweight items. I had 2 items that were .1 oz over and they returned packages to me. I will now ship in paper bags now

I try to be accurate when I ship. So far so good. But I must say that about 20% of the sellers that I dealt with underpay on their postage. I guess that's ok because about 50% of all sellers I dealt with overpaid by not taking advantages of flat rates or free priority supplies.

I had one last week that put an flat rate priority envelope label on a 3 lb tyvek envelope. Another one not too long ago, put a 1lb priority label on a 5 lb non flat rate priority box!
Speaking about abuse, the last 2 Priority packages that I received both used UPS labels.

I've gotten one with a 13 oz First Class Label on a 3 pounder. Of course it got bumped to the 3 pound Priority Rate. I had to pay $7+ to retrieve it from the Post Office. Seller did refunded me that amount. She said she "didn't know". lol

OK im pretty sure this change is due to intelligent mail. I was printing a envelope today and I can apply for a e-refund on it if IM barcodeing is used.

lol some you of guys are pushing the limit of the weight! Anyways my post office guy called me again today and saying if I mess up again, they will not pick up no more. Is he allow to do that? Granted i dont underweight stuff no more , but i felt very threatened by that.

Regarding shipping items cheaper than they should be, I just got a shipment in a regular size Flat Rate Box (which should have cost $10.35 if I remember) and it had a PO applied postage sticker for $9.05 (which by the way was the 3 pound correct Priority rate for that item 1 Zone away from me.)
Can you use a FRB and pay regular priority zoned rates if it is less??? I always thought you use FRB and MUST pay the FRB postage rate, regardless of zone or weight.

I'm pretty sure they were supposed to pay the full flat rate (hence the name). It's not pay the lower of the flat rate and the regular Priority Mail postage. OTOH, if the box is modified, you would pay the higher rate.

My guess is the person who was working the counter didn't want them to just destroy the box for no reason, I had a friend who tried to ship Flat-Rate but clerk told him it was cheaper with just regular PM. He just opened the boxed and trashed it, what a waste.
