hey need a car and wanted a prius so looked around for a FW way of getting it ended up on this website www.ezsalvage.com it is a company of the elite motor located in Bronx, NY I spoke with them on the phone , searched the internet and couldn't find any real info on them, nothing negative
they also have some cars with clear title not everything is salvage. It said it is a return from leasing company or something like that.
saw an auction ending last night and I ended up bidding on the problem is these people work with money order or wire transfer only
after winning I have to pay 10% and they will present my bid to the insurance company that has the car and if they accept it the deal will go through and i have to pay the rest.
they do accept the 10% in paypal form as well but they claim that if i dont win they will keep 10% of that money if sent via paypal. but if it is money order they refund the whole thing.
after winning the car you have to give them the full amount + 55$ (their fee) +transportation fee and they will arrange transportation to your door.
I have till tomorrow to make a decision as to which way to pay the 10% either via paypal or I will take a money order in person to them.

So you bid on the chance to bid on a car? That right there sounds sleazy to begin with. I'm guessing the cars are really good deals and you know what they say about things that sound too good...
So in theory, they could collect these 10% "bids" and just keep telling bidders, "Sorry, your bid was rejected" aaaaaaaaaand PROFIT!
Edit:
Looking at one of the vehicle pages, I see this:
e-zsalvage said:PLEASE REMEMBER: This is NOT an instant purchase. If you hold a highest eligible offer on our Insurance Company item, WE WILL PURSUE THE ACQUISITION OF THIS VEHICLE FROM INSURANCE AUCTION UPON RECEIVING YOUR DEPOSIT, which is usually due next business day. If we acquire the vehicle, your purchase is finalized. If we cannot acquire your vehicle, you can leave your deposit for your next offer or request a refund.
So they say you can get your money back or use it for another vehicle purchase. I don't know. There really isn't alot of info about them online after a quick glance. I'd proceed with caution.
It sounds like they're acting as a dealer proxy. Many of the salvage auctions are "dealer only". There is no reason why they can't refund your paypal money... There is a "Refund" option that negates the fees. Without references - entirely too risky...

Yes, they carry no inventory, they pursue to bid at auction after receiving your bid, if the auction goes too high they don't win. They charge you a 10% fee for their time to bid at auction (seems like a lot since they just sit at a computer). They probably use a database from something like this Text
You would be better off finding someone who is a registered dealer who you could accompany to an auction (the big ones are in NJ) and check out the cars before bidding. He would charge you a fee for his time (even though he would be going to the auction anyway).
Copart is a national salvage auction company that has lots all over and is open to the public (kind of). You just to have a business name (dba registered with the state) to bid on their cars. There is a membership fee of about $300 for the year but they have local lots you can visit all over the country and live internet bidding. They also have some clean title cars from dealers as well. www.copart.com is their website.

Check with your local state laws, but you might have to have a dealers license if you want to resell. You pay them and they basically give you the title. You are responsible for arranging and paying transport costs.

can I sell the cars I buy from their without registering it under my name first and pay taxes etc?
if I have business name (dba registered with the state) am still considered public and need a dealer and have to buy the car through the dealer and pay them the 200-300$?
does their prices go close to the public prices like on craigs list?

Most auctions like Mahiem and Adessa are dealer only (dealer's license). They sell clean title dealer cars. With copart you can only bid if you have a DBA or business license. The membership fee applies no matter what. About 85% of Copart's cars are salavage and you can find some real bargains. Most of the sellers on Copart are insurance companies.

I rushed a $400.00 dollar deposit thru Pay Pal as soon as bidding was over, for a car I was the high bidder on at close of bidding 9pm. Next morning I was informed I was not the high bidder. Was asked to up my bid if I wanted to continue bidding. I did not increase my bid. I left my deposit in place for a few weeks thinking I might win a bid, forget that. They contact you after the bid close and try to pump you to increase your bid. I finally bought a car locally. On 8/15/2009 I requested a refund of my $400.00 deposit less the 10% they required to make a refund. They say it will take 21 days to process a refund. (BS). I have been waiting 42 days for the refund and still no money. I have emailed them and talked to them on the phone. They say the check will be mailed. Additionally Pay Pal ceased doing business with them. Beware of this company. If it is this hard to get $360.00 dollars back on a $400.00 deposit, a person would be crazy to send them thousands for a car they might have been the high bidder on. I would also join a a lawsuit against them. However after researching the law they seem have all their bases covered under NY laws. They may not have their bases covered under Federal Laws doing interstate commerce business. Some legal actions should be taken by ones who have been scammed for over $1000.00
So did you end up putting down the deposit? I also just ran across that website but decided to search for any information available about this scammer site... Have all of you who had a bad experience with them report these guys to the BBB?
HEY THEY ROBBED ME OVER $1000 I AM TIRED OF WAITINF WRITING TO DA OFFICE DO YOU WANT TO JOIN IN !!! LETS GET THEM I HAVE OTHER PEOPLE AS WELL THAT NEVER GOT THERE DEPOSITS BACK !!
Their whole business model has scam written all over it in my opinion. They could tell everyone their bid wasn't high enough and keep 10% over and over. What would be more legitimate is if they only take a commission if you win.

Please fix your caps lock key before posting here again. Also please run spell check. Also 's are not optional. Oh and a single question mark and exclamation point is entirely sufficient.
