Legitimate question... Apparently there is decent caselaw around auctions that went to end and buyer or sellers didn't want to pony up.. So be aware of that. Most of the risk is on the sellers end IMHO, as the buyer can always claim "not as described".
I've bought several cars on eBay. The last one I was unable to pick up for 2 weeks as the seller was trying to get 50% more for it on Craigslist. I was in the process of filing on him when he came around...
The bad thing is that as long as the seller closes/ends the auction, they're in the clear.
You had the highest bid, not the winning bid. Big difference. And yes, the seller can end the auction for any reason up to 12 hours before the end if there are bids.
You may want to contact the seller and ask him politely if the bike is still available.
Yes, I jumped the gun on this. I was never a very active Ebayer, but after all these years I can't believe I never knew about the 12 hour rule. Please let this thread die since I can't delete it.
