Here's the scenario: I'm buying a car soon and asked my cousin if he can loan me 10k which he said no problem but it will be funded by PayPal. He'll send me the 10k through PP as a personal payment (the no fee type) but I would like to know if this will affect my PP account. My PP history - I sell low-value items on eBay (was a powerseller), PP premier account but never have more than 2k in my account at any give time. (I like to keep my money safe in my bank account and not in PP's pocket.) Would like to know if this will raise any red flags and if it does, will PP limit my account?

Thanks.

Knowing paypal it will most likely set off an alert if you haven't already gone through the whole security/identification process with them (ie submitting your ssn, proof of residence, proof of ID, the whole shebang). I'd avoid this high dollar transaction if I were you as it can set you back a week or more to get thru the whole process.

Thanks for the input.

He wants to send me the funds via PP because he's a titanium powerseller on eBay and have a lot of funds sitting in his PP account.

Will it be better if he sends me small increments of maybe 1k a week via regular transfer? I'm willing to eat the 3% fee.

Yes must be really close to your cousin.

Why can't he withdraw the $10K or request a check from PP?

3% is pretty pricey though ($300 total). Can't he just transfer the money into a checking account and mail you a check? The only other option I can think of would be to have him link his paypal account to your checking account and then have him push the 10K into it through paypal. If he's willing to loan it to you, I'm assuming you trust him enough not pull in the opposite direction. After the transaction is complete, he can un-link the account and call it a day. Best of all, no fees.
