I just received a chargeback dispute on a buyer who received an item, left positive feedback and has now filed a chargeback 16 days later. I sent the package online through paypal using USPS Domestic Priority Mail. I have all the tracking information from the package and show that it arrived at the verified address. As I mentioned, the buyer has already left positive feedback. Here are the steps I have taken.
1.) Provided all of the tracking information to paypal and responded to the dispute explaining I have not had any communication with the buyer other than the positive feedback I received from the transaction. 2.) Marked the item as unpaid and opened an unpaid item dispute. 3.) Contacted the buyer and asked why I received the chargeback dispute. 4.) Blocked the buyer from all future transactions.
What else am I missing for those that have experience with this? What else should I do (other than wait for paypal to screw me...) Am I screwed or what?
If it's a cc chargeback then Paypal is out of the picture and your recourse is with the cc company.

I've never gone thru a cc dispute as a seller. I'd also be interested to hear from someone that has and how the process works. I thought Paypal would step aside and let the seller battle it out with the CC company but I'm not sure.
The OP said it wasn't based on item not rec'd. (that kind of dispute is fairly easy to resolve)
Possibly the credit card was stolen so the scammer (possibly hijacked account) left the positive feedback and now the real buyer saw the charge contacted the credit card company and initiated charge back.
If the transaction is paypal seller protection eligible you are off the hook after providing tracking info.
But paypal place a temporary hold on your money and the process takes atleast 30 days to resolve or sooner if the cc withdraw charge back.
Very usually happens with gift cards,prepaid cell phone refill cards etc.

I have had a few. The most recent one involved a buyer that asked for positive feedback (is there any other kind?) right after he ordered. I shipped the package priority with tracking and it was "seller protected" by Paypal. The day after I ship it he disputed it with his credit card and Paypal asked me for shipping info. I provided the tracking and a few days later paypal reversed the hold and I got paid. In the meantime I asked the buyer to cancel the eBay transaction and he refused (what a jerk!). The buyer claimed it was a problem with his credit card company and he would pay me if the paypal payment didn't go through (yeah right!).
Unauthorized transaction occurs when credit card is stolen.
CC Charge back is due to buyer's remorse or item was not received to buyer.
If the CC requires the buyer to return the item(if not scammer), then try to get back the item as quickly as possible otherwise the CC will process the charge back and buyer don't have to reurn the item.

I have already contacted the buyer to send the item back and I would provide full refund. I received no response. I filed an un-paid item dispute after the fund went on hold. Paypal sent me this link regarding the chargeback process.
If you follow SPP you are covered for unauthorized or INR chargebacks - does not matter what the cc company or buyer say paypal will cover it (eventually). SNAD chargebacks you always lose.

Late last year I purchased an iPod Nano from someone in the U.S. I received the Nano, but it was a cheap imitation from China. I filed a chargeback with the credit card company (Citi) and they denied my claim saying they could not prove the item was fake. I even sent the item back to the seller and they still denied. After calling the credit card company several times and complaining they finally reimbursed the money. I was aggravated that it did not come out of the sellers pocket though.
