A buyer bought a $250 item from me and filed an A-to-Z claim that the item was damaged (unlikely since the item was brand new) although he said that the shipping box itself was intact. He lost the AtoZ claim and later filed a chargeback with his CC. Amazon asked for info and I gave them everything they asked for.

Two months later I get an e-mail from them saying that they debited my account since I did not send them the requested info. I shot back a reply showing them proof that I had indeed given them all the info they wanted. Now Amazon says though they accept that they did receive all the info they requested from me, my acount will stay debited because the CC company said that the info provided was not sufficient.

Isn't it Amazon's responsibility to notify me if the CC company wanted additional info? They didn't do this but instead chose to lie that they did not receive a response from me.

What this boils down to is that Amazon will not take any responsibility for it's own c0ck-ups and will basically steal the money from sellers like us and give it to the buyer in case of a CC dispute.

Is there anything that can be done about this? And oh yeah, did I mention I'm livid?

At minimum he owes you the item back...

Would be nice for them to return the "damaged" item, but the CC may not have asked/required him to send it back for the dispute.

Yes.

This is the reality of selling on Amazon. At this point NOTHING can be done, just write it off and move on. If you can't afford an occasional hit here and there there's always eBay and money orders

Why would OP lose money for some employees mistake at Amazon? OP should fight with Amazon for getting it refunded.

And OP will lose, every time. Amazon is establishing itself as the "friendliest" place for buyers and trying to paint eBay as full of fraudulent sellers. Of course, this leads to an epidemic of fraudulent buyers. Suck it up and move on is all you can do.
