Item must be $9.99 or more....

This is a good deal for multiple quantity listings. As long as the individual item price os over $9.99 the listing fee is only 50 cents for as many quantity as you want.

Seems like they're trying every kind of sale to see what works. First the powerseller-only sale, now this. They're probably doing this to limit sellers from starting dummy auctions.

Okay, forgive the dumb question (I just rarely sell on fleabay) . . .

FIXED PRICE is, what, BIN? CLASSIFIED? I'm only asking because I don't think I'm eligible to offer BIN because I only have a feedback of 4 (blush).

Is this available to everyone?

Tytie

Edit:

FIXED PRICE (Explained) Alright but I guess I don't see how this is different from BIN? They as much as say that your listing will show the BIN icon (??).

Further Edit:

Wow, I didn't realize the BIN option D.I.S.A.P.P.E.A.R.S. after there is a bid! Kind of ruins my day tsk. Here I'm working up to (5) just to be able to offer the stupid thing, but it disappears?? Jesus. Back to Craigs List.

Why do you say that, I always make items with a sky high price and have days to change it as I get more of what I want to sell.
My dummy ad is usually the Tmobile 2610 listed at $1500

Listing a BUY-IT-NOW correctly means you don't have an option of bidding on it like a traditional auction. It won't just "disappear", because there would be no option to bid...it's only if you list a normal auction with a buy-it-now option that you get screwed like you did.

I am not getting how they got screwed.

Was referring to his quote, "...Kind of ruins my day tsk. Here I'm working up to (5) just to be able to offer the stupid thing, but it disappears..."

Guess that's not really getting screwed, but he seemed to be pretty upset over it.

I am so confused. Is this sale really for items only over 9.99?

Yesterday I tried to list a FP multiple listing 34 items @ 4.99. The listing fee was 2.00. Live help was useless. So I called stores support. They told me that this was a known error and that I should place my listing and I would get a credit from the billing department. I researched further and saw that sale maybe only applies to 9.99 or more listings. Today I tried the same listing for 34 items @ 4.99 and the listing fee was only .50.

Has the sale changed or am I missing something?

Ahhhh. Okay I think I'm understanding this.

So — leaving off for the moment other listing formats (Dutch, Classified etc.) and focusing on what constitutes the bulk of individual listings on fleabay — there are exactly two listing types:
Auction
Fixed Price

BIN, if I then understand this, is not of itself a "listing type" but an:
Add-On Payment Option
for which Sellers generally have to have FB of (5) to qualify.

Do I have that (basically) correct?

Which then explains why the solicitation was sent to someone like me (with FB 4) — namely, that I can list FIXED PRICE . . . but just can't have the BIN option . . . ?

I hope the above parses more fully where my confusion lies. I genuinely don't understand why I was solicited for this offer . . . unless it is because FIXED PRICE and BIN are mutually exclusive. And yet . . . I still don't get it. If they buy the damned thing, it's nonetheless SOLD. If (a quantity of one item) is SOLD, that ends that listing. Aren't they for all intents and purposes "Buying It Now?"

Honestly, I'm more confused now than ever lol.

There are 3 basic types of listings:

Auction - bids are placed until the listing period is over. The only way to win is to be high bidder at the end.

Auction w/ BIN - Bids can be placed, but the listing starts with a BIN price that lets a buyer bypass bidding and buy the item outright before the listing period is over. This is a hybrid of the other two types. The BIN option traditionally disappears when the first bid is placed (or when the reserve is met) but in some categories it remains until the bid reaches a certain percentage of the BIN price.

Fixed price - No bidding whatsoever, the listing stays up until either someone buys it outright or the listing period end.

It remains if there is a reserve, until the reserve is met.
If no reserve, items can go over, wayover the original BIN that went away when a bid was made.
I do that to my comps that have the same listing with a TOTAL BIN less than my TOTAL BIN.
I luv to kill their BIN.

I got in a dozen or so place holders...

Okay, but . . . don't I need FB (5) to list Fixed Price? Thanks honey. As always.

It works.

Looks like the response to this one-week sale was immense. I sell a pretty niche product and competition from one-time sellers is intense.

My stuff went kinda fast also, used 1/2 the place holders already with more items.

Good for a whole week was what made it so popular. You had time to do 3 day auctions several times trying different prices.
