"After much consideration, we've made the decision to remove the Mutual Feedback Withdrawal process. The reason is that under the new rules - it opens sellers up to extortion."

I've always questioned the successful % rate of the withdrawal method

At least e Bay's listening... Also, I'm curious to see how this works out...it might not be so bad that I can't leave neutral/negative then:

"# In addition to expanding the 3-day block to 7 days, we are introducing a new Buyer Requirement that will allow sellers to block buyers who have been reported by other sellers for eBay buying policy violations (such as Feedback abuse, or email threats).

# We're expanding the scope of the existing Buyer Requirement for unpaid items, so that it supports more comprehensive blocking of buyers who have a history of non-payment.

# We've improved the process that sellers use to report buyers for policy violations."

not good if it means sellers can abuse that, I envision dirty sellers reporting buyers even though buyers had a legitimate beef and left bad feedback that the scum seller deserved

Really, until the Buyer Requirement program and its details come out, it's better than what they have currently proposed (no negative/neutral feedback can be left by sellers). Then, it may end up becoming what eBay's current system is w/retaliatory feedback. Either way, it seems that eBay did not fully think through the impact of their feedback changes and are now playing catch up.

Either way, I hope they don't screw things up too badly and drive both buyers and sellers away.

eBay's feedback system will become (even more) worthless and die off. I suspect eBay know this and want that to happen.

I'm an excellent seller but occasionally I sell something to a complete dumbass - who will now be leaving dumbass negs knowing they don't need to worry about me negging them back. There'll probably be lots of 'positive' feedbacks left that read NEG NEG NEG NEG NEG NEG

Is this a backtrack?

eBay sounds really sensitive to the idea of buyer extortion. But the whole new feedback scheme risks buyer extortion. What difference does is make if it comes via the original feedback or the mutual withdrawal?

And what's up with the sellers giving buyers bad marks? Isn't that essentially feedback?

What's the point of the changes then?

I would suppose so. However, it is not out of character for eBay to act idiotically and not match the dates. This is the first I heard of the additions. I'm just glad they're making changes to the seemingly foolish initial feedback changes.

I'll be the first to say it (never thought I would ever say something like that)

BRING MEG BACK!

Seriously though, all these "improvements" make me wanna puke. It seems that they're destroying, brick by brick the house that Meg built. It wasn't perfect (what is?), but it was working and lining EVERYDODY's pockets. Now new management decided that they need to change it just for the sake of changing without any clear idea what they want to do. Agr

Shareholders want more $$$, have to try and "improve" things to make more $$$.

I would say eBay can do anything like this to avoid extortion but they should have someone review the negative or neutral feedback process for sellers upon request. They have to review all the email correspondence between buyers & sellers and place a negative feedback for whom it (neg or neutral) really deserves. Without this eBay feedback system is as dumb as eBay's top officials.

Do they still allow court orders for feedback removal? Do they allow buyers to modify (upgrade only) the ratings if buyer leaves neg or neutral by mistake?
