As far as i am aware, the only rule at this time is that links to active auctions (whether run by the poster or not) cannot be posted. An unwritten tradition is that eBay/Paypal coupons are to be posted here instead of DD or HD. Other than that, we seem to mostly be hands-off type of board in terms of what can and cannot be posted here.

how about a Amazon.com marketplace sticky or ioffer, ecrater stickies?
money can be made on these sites. I am sure other sellers/buyers would like some knowledge of these sites. I know I do.

Thanks for the suggestion, We will certainly consider this. If anyone has some expertise in these areas and would like to add information, pm me.

There should be a thread for flame free questions like finance has, there does seem to be quite a bit of basic questions asked and would save a bit of new threads.

Noted! This can be done!

How about a seperate sticky for selling on eBay England and Canada? I know we have a International FAQ sticky but most Ebayers when they are starting out will start with England and Canada not Nigeria or Iraq. I think having a England or Canada only sticky would be great since eBay is pushing this now.

Why not have a sticky covering a list of FeePay alternatives? The quick edit area could list the site and users could give opinions underneath in a variety of categories. The name of the forum is Online Auctions, but going by first glance everything is about the bay. Even the opening sentence of the original post in this thread starts out "Greetings fellow eBay enthusiasts!" Further, there's one thread on the first page of FleaBay alternatives with a reply from somebody basically telling the OP that he should already know because it's already been covered. I myself would like to start selling stuff online, though am not willing to pay the high fees that PeePlay and submit to possible extortion from buyers. (Sellers can no longer leave negative for buyers, no matter what the situation - what a fantastic idea! <roll eyes> )

Ruler, that post got the response it did because it was a repost of a recent question. As in all FW forums (except perhaps OT), reposting is generally not loved in OA.

I do see utility in (a) FAQ-type thread(s) for Amazon in particular. The question is, who will take on writing it and maintaining it?

As for a flame-free thread, perhaps that would be useful. Do we have enough flaming here to make it a particularly worthwhile endeavor, enough traffic t need to separate those threads out, and enough people who can capably assist in such a thread?

Does anyone have Amazon experience?

After this mornings meeting, we have decided to allow auction links for information purposes as long as the privilege is not abused.

As for the eBay and Paypal deals, we will allow them to be double posted in Online Auctions and Hot Deals so that nothing is missed!

Additional sticky ideas have been approved in order of importance. I have been asked about the following possible sticky topics. If you have ideas as to which ones would be most helpful, please let me know:

eBay Alternative Thread

Flame Free Question Thread for beginners

eBay Canada/UK Thread

Amazon Marketplace Thread

If anyone also has ideas or would like to start any of these with any knowledge that you have, that would certainly be appreciated. Thanks!

How about less stickies? If all of these go through, 1/2 of the top of the OA will be stickies. I personally think the number of stickies is good.

Flame Free Question Thread for beginners - this one is probably not needed. Not too much flaming going on. Probably cuz there aren't that many trolls. In general, OA is pretty accommodating even to repeat questions.

eBay Canada/UK Thread - May be interesting as it seems eBay is pushing this more.

Amazon Marketplace Thread & eBay Alternative Thread - I don't see why these should be separate. I suppose there could be a justification of Amazon is arguably 1 of 3 venues that people use (eBay, Amazon & Craigslist) but we going to have a Craigslist Thread next? I'm one for less clutter not more and I think this would just add to the clutter.

Good point! A lot of these thread ideas can be combined and probably will be.
