Ok this is the second time this has happened. I win an item. I go through the seller's checkout system. I select pay with paypal. I then get taken to the paypal screen.

Before I hit the PAY NOW button within paypal, I hit the drop down button to select a different address. When I do this, it immediately pays the person!

Two times in a row this has happened. Once for a cheap item. And it just did it now on a very expensive item (over $1500). I wanted to pay with a credit card and before I got a chance to change the funding source it goes ahead and confirms the payment. I didn't have $1500 in the bank, so I had to run over to a different bank and get cash and then run to this bank to deposit the cash to avoid an overdraft fee.

Anyone know what the deal with this is? TIA.

Couldnt you just have the seller refund and repay?

I would NEVER pay that much from my bank acct.

Happened to me before, as well. I thought it was just a once-off glitch.

Honestly ... I don't think it's a glitch. PayPal has every reason to encourage payments from a bank because it reduces their fees and liability from chargeback.

Even if they were to classify this as a bug, I'm sure they wouldn't rush to fix it.

Agreed. This has happened to me at least 5 times. I do not think it's a glitch. I have reported it to Paypal as early as last December. IANAL, but this seems like fraud to me. Paypal pulls money out of a bank account without me giving consent (clicking PAY button).

The last time it happened was for a $600 item that would have overdrafted my account. I called Paypal, we 3-wayed with my banks cusotmer service and put a stop payment on the draft. Paypal gave me a credit for the overdraft charge. When the charge was denied, my PP account was frozen due to potential fraud. Once I got it straightened out, the bank account became unverified. So it no longer appears in my funding sources list. PP buyer credit is now my defualt funding source. It hasn't happened again since then.

Sorry I haven't checked this thread.

So it has happened to others. Total Paypoo fraud IMO.

Thank god I am onto their scheme now. I now know to never change the shipping address until I have my funding options finalized.
