Can somebody recommend a good coin sorter?

I need to buy a coin sorter as the days of the piggy bank are gone.

I don't want to pay the coin machine at the super market 10% and would like
to buy my own machine but the reviews on Amazon were pathetic.

Does somebody make a reliable machine that won't break?

Thanks in advance.

Anthony

First of all, is this for light use or heavy use, it makes a difference.

At Staples, (don't forget FatCash) the Mag-Nif Digital Coin Sorter is around $50.00 and they also have a light-weight model that runs about $20.00. The cheaper one doesn't keep track of the total, it has a digital clock and timer on it. ( for counting down to a trip that you are saving change for, etc - kind of useless.). I have this one, it works fine if you don't need any totals. It can only handle about 10-15 coins at a time in the hopper. The more expensive one keeps a total and can handle about 50 coins at a time. The cheapest route would be the plastic tubes. I also saw one at Costco that was about $70 and it had fours rows for each coin on the tray. Don't remember the brand.

I read the reviews about the Mag-Nif Digital coin sorter on Amazon and they slammed it. The consensus was that the digital feature wasn't necessary and that I would be better off without it. At the same time, I don't have a coin sorter and don't know exactly what I want.

It is for occasional pocket change.

I thought that I had read that the Nag-nif doesn't tell you how many coins are in the stack of say quarters, nickels, dimes but tells you the total only. Is that true?

Do you have a part #/model #? Where did you buy yours?

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Go to the bank and make they count it, isnt it part of their job.

many banks either won't do it at all or charge a fee

More and more banks are setting up free coin counting machines in their branches. You may want to visit several local banks to see if it is available.

I tried all the local banks and even some of the regional banks locally.

No luck........

There was a neat digital coin sorter with storage for bills ($1, $5, $10, $20 also), for clearance at Office Max last week.

However, it was missing a key, so I couldn't buy it. Price it asks for?
$14.99

Shouldn't this be moved to "Deals Discussion", BTW?
