So i have kept my eye out for the Scooba 5900, Sears had one on clearance for $238. I heard bad things about the battery in the 5800. so i just wanted to know if anyone has one and is there that big of a differance between the two and is 5900 for $238 worth it? I have 90 days to return it. thanks for your time.

$238 for either model is a very good deal. Are you referring to the 5900 or the 5800, because your post seems to imply that you meant to type 5800.
I have the 5900, and overall I am very happy with it. From what I have read, the battery for both is identical, despite the fact that the 5800 only runs for half the time.
Here is a thread that discusses the differences, which appear to be somewhat of a mystery!

Flagg No, I have the 5900 from the Sears clerance. but i have 90days to return it. so i guess the 5800 is better cause it can run just on water and the battery has the charging issue fixed. If i keep the 5900 am i going to run into issues with the unit dying? can i flash the same firmware to the 5900 as the 5800 to fix the battery issue?
Wow, I am so lucky I logged on to FW one day in december and found a link for the Scooba 5900 and the roomba 4000 for only $229.00 plus free shipping!!!
I love the Scooba, the 4000 is a little cheap compared to my orignal roomba, but it works for what I need for now. Hopefully this deal will come back so my friends can get one.
