The quote for insurance looks pretty good, especially with two young drivers on the policy, one who is still a teenager, but how are they at handling claims, anyone know?

Thanks.

We just went insurance 'shopping' yesterday. If you're interested, with two young adults, you may want to also check out Costco's car insurance, through Enterprise. We were pleased with the quote.
Edit: Amerprise (Sorry)

Thanks, Washington State, I'll do that. I appreciate it.

try esurance.com
they are pretty good
geico may be pricy when compared to others one for one

I live in the Phoenix Arizona region of the country and have shopped many different insurance companies they are by far the cheapest and the best I have ever had. Highly recommend them, but it depends where you live that dictates how much you will pay, along with your age and driving record.

We live in Okla and got the best price at GEICO, and that was with our Corvette too. However, we haven't had any claims yet so can't help you on that. Keeping my fingers crossed we don't have any either.

Goodluck!

besides cost also think about insurance in terms of the service e.g. in the turn around in case of accidents/problems...unfortunately me and my wife both had an accident each and on both occasions GEICO was really quick, just like their Ad's had my check in 3 days for the repairs.

One sour point of GEICO is that everything is online and sometimes its not always the good thing.

Also think about AllState couple of my colleagues switched to them and very happy with them. Oh I am in NJ and really the rates are horribly high here.

I definitely was interested in their service, not just their price. With a teenager and a young adult on the policy, that's important. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I needed that info.

I just saved a bundle on my auto insurance...but it was with AAA

I have actually thought about switching from Allstate to something a bit less expensive. We have no accidents, tickets, ect..but do have a teenage son on our policy. My problem is the "personal touch" I LIKE dealing with my agent and have been with them for years. If I have a question or a problem, I can call them and they handle it or guide me through the process. I don't think I would get that with Geico or the others.

A few years ago, I was shopping for auto insurance. Turned out I was able to get a big discount on my rates from Liberty Mutual, because of where I had gone to school, years earlier. Maybe some of the other companies had similar deals going, but only Liberty Mutual went out of its way to explain to me that I might be eligible for a discount based on where I'd gone to school, my membership in some professional organization, things like that.

Since then, I emphasize to anyone looking for insurance to go and ask the companies about such discounts. Did you get your degree from Princeton? Are you an NRA member? Were you on Romper Room in 1969? Any of this might save you a few hundred bucks per year. (Well, maybe not the Romper Room part. Although if you were on Romper Room for a few weeks in 1969 - the real Romper Room, on WOR, in NYC, with Miss Louise - please let me know. It could be we were on tv together as kids.)

I used to work for Geico about 10 years ago. Although they were a little cheap to their employees their service was and I'm sure is still amazing. I currently have them now and knock on wood have not had to file any claims. What I can say is that inherent in the company is great service- we always bent over backwards and in some cases even beyond to make sure the customer was always happy. Just realize that some people are nuts when it comes to their cars and nothing will please them. Example if you are in an accident they will use authorized replacement parts or parts from a scrapyard. This would drive some people crazy even though they guarantee the parts. Even though that person may then badmouth the insurance company ALL companies do this. Once again they were always quick fast and responsive. Also you do not have to do anything online with them unless you want to.

MLKHS, and everyone who has commented, thank you so much. That's really great info. I put all this aside for a while and now I think I'll look into it again.

I had 2 claims with GEICO where I had chiropractic care afterwards. My doctor's office told me that Geico was very good about paying their claims. One negative though was that they sent me to the Geico doctor for a 2nd opinion. I thought he was kind of weird. Some time later I received a full-color invitation to a local strip club with this doctor's name on it! And I am female. Now I understand he relinquished his license.

Also call Amica. JD & Power associates has rated them #1 for years and their rates are competitive with high customer service reviews. The cool part about them is that let's say you get 300k of coverage, it goes where ever it is needed and your not capped out like most insurance companies when they break it down like this 50/100/100. Property damage/medical/whatever.

Amica gives you the money where ever it's needed. It's not like you have a 50k cap on medical, 100/property damage etc. You have 300k and they will put it to use where ever you need it. Hope that makes sense. Good luck

If everyone stopped purchasing insurance from Geico, they would have no money to make those annoying commercials.

Geico is part of Berkshire Hathaway's empire, so all Berkshire shareholders get a discount on their Geico premiums.....I think it is 7% off....but double check that.

Can that be stacked on top of other discounts? Do they ask for proof?
