I bought the extended warranty for my computer.

When it needed to be fixed for just a fan. The terrible geek squad killed it.
First to a blue screen/ than it wouldn't turn on (the so -called fixers didn't place the cover on correctly and the on/off switch wasn't set)
Next I got the computer back and because they didn't READ my alert to re adjust the cover-they went ahead and gave me a new motherboard/hard drive and reformatted my computer.

Since April 2006 my computer is still at Best Buy.
With contact I am now up to Tier 3-Law Dept.

But I still don't have my computer and it's wiped clean.

WARNING -------anyone else out there --suffering from Geek Squad breakage?

No. I have learned to fix what breaks and never let anyone else fix anything on my computer.

update. Best Buy gave me my money back and called it the lemon law. they sent a 1250$ gift certificate.
but they also told me i would be able to purchase another comp to use during the fixing progress.
well upon returning it, i had to argue 2.5 hours. after that adventure a supervisor claimed he would give me another gift certificate and than replace the amount on my credit card. this was sunday.... did i get the credit yet?

let me .......look NO!

No, but by having a consultation with one of them I knew it would be a bad idea to use their service.

Their service is slow and not fun. However the lemon thing is nice. Back in the day I had 2 different laptops replaced due to said lemon dealio. It was great (if your units break) because you paid $1,250 for a machine 2 years ago and now $1,250 buys yo sooooo much more. Let me state again that their service is TERRIBLE AND slow. But if its a back up machine and such you will be ok.

never trust your computer with best buys geek squad. i call it the crap squad. use Staples easytech service.

ive used easytech many times and i love it. the service is very quick and hassle-free. sometimes Staples has coupons in the ad for a free pc tuneup but if youre not lucky their service starts at 30 bucks.

I agree. Staples people much more pro. I used them 3 times, no problem at all.

I have had nothing but problems with best buy extended warrenties. Once with a 1 month old tv. i think I posted a thread about it awhile ago. I ended up waiting over 3 months and they still hadn't fixed it. I had to call coporate and threaten them with the attorney general. I purchased a laptop for my mom there and she has returned it no less then 6 times in one year and its' still not fixed. It was actually broken out of the box. I no longer buy big ticket items there, it's just not worth the hassle. I'm glad your situation worked out.
