I use a reseller which has very cheap rates. It had been using Qwest to carry its calls. Unfortunately, I have a problem whereby Qwest was billing me directly its outrageous rates for international calls after I moved and got a new phone #. 3U told me that it won't use Qwest anymore because the billing problems. It says that it will use Global Crossing from now on. How well does that service work for international voice calls? The situation is somewhat complicated, because Global Crossing doesn't carry the entire call. I'm wondering if there are better alternatives for international LD services. There is what I'm getting from the reseller 1) calls to Hong Kong and US are 4.8 cents a minutes 2) 1 second billing 3) no monthly fees of any kind.
Below is what the reseller CSR told me.
We do not use Global Crossing for the termination of our customers' calls, but instead we use them to receive calls from the local telephone provider into the our network. As far as I am aware, no VOIP connection is used in this transfer. As far as the termination of calls from our network to the destination number, we use other vendors. These vendors use both fixed line and VOIP technology. For a given destination we choose the vendor that provides the best connection possible at a cost that allows us to provide service at our published rates.
