labboypro said:trader14 said:purchased a kworld product and didn't listen to all the warnings re nonpayment of rebates. I bought mine in march 07 and just got off the phone with "candi" in the rebate center who said my rebates are in the final stages and will be mailed in 2-3 weeks, I will never buy from them again

Make sure you register a complaint with www.bbb.org, epinions, and everywhere else you can. For all the complaining we've had over Buy.com recently, it only makes sense to target the actual rebate scammers like Kworld.

I have gotten several rebates from KWorld, but only after pulling teeth.

1) If you MUST buy a KWorld product with a rebate, ALWAYS send rebates to KWorld via some sort of trackable service such as Certified Mail (the few dollars it costs are worth it), and when you complain about rebates that haven't arrived, be sure to mention that you have proof of delivery of your rebate. Photocopy EVERYTHING including the front of the envelope to proove that you addressed it correctly and included the offer number, etc. (as KWorld sometimes requires). This is especially true for rebates that go to KWorld's headquarters in City of Industry, CA.

2) Keep close track of the calendar and follow up promptly with both KWorld and the retailer when rebates are not received (Newegg will go to bat for you with KWorld if you ask them to).

3) If you want to get rough with KWorld, mention to them that you know about their poor reputation for honoring rebates and that you are prepared to tell CA Attorney General Jerry Brown and the CA Department of Consumer Affairs about your experience unless you get your money immediately.

For those of you dealing with www.onrebate.biz, you already know they've raised the bar on shady practices... well, if you sent a rebate to their Tyler, TX address below--

NAME: Worldwide Rebate
BBB MEMBER: NO
CONTACT:
ADDRESS: P.O. Box 2026
Tyler, TX 75710
PHONE: 888 222-9300
FAX: --None--
Website: www.onrebate.biz

They're now claiming the following...

Hi, thank you for your request and I'm sorry you are having trouble with your rebate.

At this facility, we are simply a data capture processor for WorldWide Rebates.......we capture the data and send it to WorldWide Rebates. As such, we do not process the actual rebate payment. This function is performed by the WorldWide Rebates company.

Please contact WorldWide Rebates (www.worldwiderebates.com). I'm sorry that we are not able to assist.

Thank you.

Just one more firewall in the rebate game. Fortunately, the BBB rep at the Tyler office is starting to get a bunch of these complaints and so they're digging into the onrebate game a little further. If you're having ANY problem with a rebate that went to Tyler, PLEASE submit a BBB complaint so they can get the documentation they need to determine a pattern of abuse. This will be of great help to us all if this goes to our State Attorneys General or Federal Trade Commission for further review.

BTW, the only contact information at worldwiderebates.com is for their "Privacy Office" --

customerservice@help.worldwiderebates.com (or Support@help.onrebate.com)
888-222-9300
fax 888-426-9467

or--

WorldwideRebates.com Privacy Office
PO Box 440588
Miami, FL 33144

Note: These contact points are IDENTICAL for both Worldwide and Onrebate. Duh.

It seems that ECGA gives many distributors different kind of rebates, but the contents are nearly the same.

That what I know, just FYI.

billrubin said:I was about to file a BBB complaint against rebate-zone (aka Helgeson) and found this on the BBB site:

Mr. Jeff Van Someren is the complaint contact person for this company and should be contacted at (651) 762-9700 before filing a complaint with the BBB.

I called and while I did not speak to him (he is VP of something or other), someone took my information and I heard back in a half an hour and my rebates were validated. This company is usually pretty legit so it was unfortunate that I had a problem in the first place, but they interpreted a form which had multiple items on it as limit one rebate, when it clearly stated limit one per item.
Thanks for the info. I plan on calling tomorrow, as I am getting the run around on the Viewsonic Projector rebate from April. I've called twice and got nowhere. The second call, I stated I was going to contact the BBB and the MN AG and was offered an address that was supposedly for a state agency. Somehow, I doubt that the CSR was being truthful. Still not sure who the address is for, since I don't believe it is a real agency. The address is listed below-

Director of Consumer Affairs
P.O. Box 10965
White Bear Lake, MN 55110

I recently purchased Thermaltake BlacX USB Docking Station at
CircuitCity where a $10 Rebate was advertised. When I tried to submit
the $10 rebate I could not find a mailing address on the rebate form. I
also tried submitting this rebate online at www.worldwiderebates.com
but this website does not load.
So, I am unable to submit this rebate either by mail or online. I am,
therefore, out of $10.

Bad Experience with them.

Sent the rebate on time, it went to their system, I choose no-wait service and paid $2.00
they said check mailed.
over a month and a half is gone I have not received the check yet, they are still saying that they sent me the check. The address is correct as well.

Now they are saying that I have to wait another 100 days until the check voided and then they will issue a new check. what an excuse they have.
Paid $2.00 and choose No-wait service ended up with over 150 days of wait.

will never deal with them again.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned that CPG (rebatestatus.com) has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. The current state is one of disarray. I'm sure there are other threads here discussing the situation.

There's a 43-page discussion about CPG on SD in their "Deal Talk" forum which includes a lot of info on how particular manufacturers are handling the situation.
