I just recently jumped on a newegg deal of an Encore wireless SuperG USB adapter that was advertised as free after a $32 rebate. The fulfillment company is myrebates411.com.

I recall seeing a couple of posts on here about people having problems with this company, and now that I've checked out their website, I'm having 2nd thoughts about my purchase, so I'm considering just returning the product to newegg for a refund instead of trying to bother with the rebate.

I want to hear other peoples' experiences with this company -- how many have mailed in rebates and actually received them vs how many never got theirs?

Their website, in particular, is pretty sketchy. First, they say: "MyRebates411 and our affiliated businesses, partners, and agents may use e-mail to communicate to our customers and prospects, respond to requests, provide support, inform you about new products and services or inform you about existing product or service updates." So, basically, if you want a rebate, be prepared for lots of spam. Secondly, their "About Us" page has a long rant about fairness, which makes me suspect that this is a really suspect organization. The rant is reproduced below:

Are Rebates Fair?

Many people ask that question. There is no doubt that manufactures rebates are very beneficial to everyone concerned. The manufacturer sells more products and you save money. Unfortunately, the system is also subject to complaints.

These complaints come from consumers AND manufacturers alike; however, our research has uncovered an interesting fact…most complaints are based upon an opinion of what someone believes is, “fair”.

As a company we make every attempt to avoid that word "fair", because that word is primarily based upon someones opinion.

Opinions of fairness are in fact very misleading because they take on a different meaning depending upon whom you ask - the consumer - the manufacturer - the store - or the fulfillment company.

In reality, when you attempt to be fair to everyone - you end up being fair to no one. It is much like a referee in a football game. In every impartial decision he makes, one team wins and one team loses.

I guarantee you - the team that loses feels it is unfair. Therefore, our goal is simply to abide by ethical business practices... to do our best to provide mutually satisfactory solutions for the complicated needs of our customers and clients.

Anyway, just wanted to hear others' experiences with this company.

There was a deal few days ago for USB PCI card from Encore, same type of rebate.

After looking at the terms and especially the 16 weeks to get check, I skipped this deal, even when the original price was only $5.99 and already good by itself, and the rebate is a smallish $5.00

I have still waiting for my Sapphire X1600 Pro $15 rebate. I check the status online but it said that my promocode AM042906051406015 does not exist!

I haven't heard any good things about this site yet and haven't heard from anyone who actually got a rebate from them... Probably a scam.

This place does not have much of a track record, and may or may not turn out to be problematic. But to suggest that it's a scam is ridiculous. I bought the USB PCI card from Newegg a couple weeks ago, and I hardly think they'd advertise a rebate that wasn't legit. Again, not much experience to compare stories, but no reason to become paranoid, yet.

Ask me again in 3 months or so and then I'll let you know what I think.

I bought the USB card as well. Hopefully newegg.com will step up to the plate like they did with the Soyo rebates if we are having trouble getting this.

I too had problems. I forgot to write all the information they wanted on the bottom of the envelope (it's over 100 characters!). I never recieved any notice until I checked the status. I contacted them and they gave my a lot of junk about how much better they are than other rebate companies (which was a bunch of junk!) and then told me I could resubmit it, but they'd deny it anyhow.

Anyways, here's what I would recomennd:
1. Complain about them to NewEgg. If newegg tells them "we're not going to sell your stuff anymore because you're unethical with your rebates" that would probably do alot.
2. File a complaint with the BBB. Please note, you file your complaint against Encore, not myrebates411. Myrebates411 is owned by encore.
3. When you see an encore product on NewEgg with a rebate, review it and make sure you mention about the troubles they will have with the rebate company.

If anyone else finds out anything, let me know.

So far so good for me. I mailed my rebate ~2 weeks ago.
I checked my status online just now, and it reads:
Transaction ID = XXXX Qualification Status = Qualified

Does that mean they'll be mailing the check soon?
Dunno, but a promising sign at least.

Hey guys!
I complained enough to them, threatened to report them to the BBB, and complained to NewEgg about them.
And... it worked! They e-mailed me today and said I am now re-qualified.

Sounds like another KWorld. I'd avoid them completely, that's the safest thing unless you REALLY need the product and can afford not to get the rebate. Time *IS* MONEY. Not worth fighting them for piddly little rebates.

I just checked and got a $5 rebate denied for "No Original Invoice". I filed a complaint with Newegg and will do the same with the BBB.

My $32 rebate for Enmcore ENUWI-SG IEEE 802.11b/g USB 2.0 Super-G Wireless Adapter was rejected becuase of "No Original Invoice". Ph**K, the rebate form clearly stated "Original or copy of invoce downloaded from newegg website", I did submit a copy of order detail newegg webpage and they still denied because "No Original Invoice". I agreed with someone calling myrebates411.com a scammer.

I filed a complaint with Newegg and I suggest you guys do the same if your rebate was rejected for false reasons.

They validated my rebate todya after I complained. "Bob" from myrebates411.com emailed me and said that I had sent in the Order Form, not the Invoice. I sent the Invoice printed from Newegg.com, I don't know of any other Invoice.

At least looks like complaints are actually being answered. Let's see if people actually start receiving checks...

On 5/15/2006 I mailed off the rebate submission to these guys. I followed the directions to a T, including writing down the offer # on the bottom of the envelope (which is nothing more than the from/to dates followed by the rebate dollar amount).

The offer stated I would receive my payment within 10-12 weeks (figure 12 weeks would be 3 months, august 15 or so).

On or around 8/10/2006 I attempted to email at sapphire@myrebates411.com. I received no reply. After a bit of tracking, I called the # listed in the whois record. Someone by the name of bob or robert answered the phone. There was no company identification or anything. Anyways, I explained my situation and was told no record could be found. I asked if I could resubmit. He said yes, and to include a scan of the envelope if one was available ( I fould this EXTREMELY ODD ). Told him I never scan an envelope, but the addressee name is copied/pasted from the rebate form.

Anyways, on 8/14/2006 I get a reply back ;

"I checked your records and you did qualify. We have submitted the reports to the manufacturer and we will be issuing rebate checks as soon as we receive payment from the manufacturer. That usually takes about a week.

On 9/5/2006 I fire off another email because nothing has been received, either in email or snail mail. That evening (8pm or so) I get a reply,

"It will only be a few more days. Sorry but there is nothing I can do. The checks are being printed now. "

Ok, sounds believeable (not really, but what can I do).

On 9/21/2006 I call again, he says he doesn't know why it fell through the cracks, but will take care of it. In fact, he offers to send funds via paypal. I accept. I ask when payment will be sent? He tells me as soon as today, or within 3 days. Give him the benefit of the doubt, I assume it to mean 3 business days.

As of 9/26/2006, nothing arrived. I call again, this time being a bit more firm. He tells me the person responsible for sending the paypal payment has likely made a mistake (no kidding). He tells me I will receive the payment soon, even if he has to fund it from his own account.

Surprisingly, later that evening I received an echeck payment from paypal. We'll see if the payment actually clears by week's end.

His primary excuse for the whole thing was that they went from a offline system to a parallel online system which caused some problems getting the rebates processed. Frankly I don't buy it. It sounds to me like this whole operation is being run from someone's basement! All rebate companies I've dealt with in the past have had professional contact numbers, not numbers that went to someone's home or their cell phone. When I call to get status on my rebate, I really don't care to hear his whole philosophy on rebates and why all the steps are there to eliminate fraud.

In the last decade, I've probably done close to $10K worth of rebates. I know how the rebate game works. There hasn't been a single legitimate rebate I haven't received. Manufacturers probably go with startup processors like him to reduce costs, deny more rebates, etc..

I'll update my results at the end of the week. For those of you who haven't received yours, keep calling and writing.

The rebaiting house should be avoided as a plague.

Based on the above post, even you may get your rebate, it simply not enough to compensate your time and emotion paid in the process.
