I just recently jumped on a newegg deal of an Encore wireless SuperG USB adapter that was advertised as free after a $32 rebate. The fulfillment company is myrebates411.com.
I recall seeing a couple of posts on here about people having problems with this company, and now that I've checked out their website, I'm having 2nd thoughts about my purchase, so I'm considering just returning the product to newegg for a refund instead of trying to bother with the rebate.
I want to hear other peoples' experiences with this company -- how many have mailed in rebates and actually received them vs how many never got theirs?
Their website, in particular, is pretty sketchy. First, they say: "MyRebates411 and our affiliated businesses, partners, and agents may use e-mail to communicate to our customers and prospects, respond to requests, provide support, inform you about new products and services or inform you about existing product or service updates." So, basically, if you want a rebate, be prepared for lots of spam. Secondly, their "About Us" page has a long rant about fairness, which makes me suspect that this is a really suspect organization. The rant is reproduced below:
Are Rebates Fair?
Many people ask that question. There is no doubt that manufactures rebates are very beneficial to everyone concerned. The manufacturer sells more products and you save money. Unfortunately, the system is also subject to complaints.
These complaints come from consumers AND manufacturers alike; however, our research has uncovered an interesting fact…most complaints are based upon an opinion of what someone believes is, “fair”.
As a company we make every attempt to avoid that word "fair", because that word is primarily based upon someones opinion.
Opinions of fairness are in fact very misleading because they take on a different meaning depending upon whom you ask - the consumer - the manufacturer - the store - or the fulfillment company.
In reality, when you attempt to be fair to everyone - you end up being fair to no one. It is much like a referee in a football game. In every impartial decision he makes, one team wins and one team loses.
I guarantee you - the team that loses feels it is unfair. Therefore, our goal is simply to abide by ethical business practices... to do our best to provide mutually satisfactory solutions for the complicated needs of our customers and clients.
Anyway, just wanted to hear others' experiences with this company.
